The Bulders Gate 3 take that Digital foundry had was before the patch was released. The update just dropped yesterday late afternoon. The game does run at 4k 60 for the most part.

Yeah they should have a dedicated team that goes back to old ps4 games and enhance them, have them run at 1440p 120fps or 4k 60fps. Black ops 3 runs at 900p on Xbox Series X which make it look bad on 4k tv. Xbox use to do FPS boost for old titles and it worked really well so Sony could do the same thing but instead actually improve image quality as a option. So yeah both Sony and Microsoft need to get these old games looking better. Microsoft owns call of duty now so hopefully that means something. All the old call of dutys were ported on Xbox One before Xbox One X came out so they all run at 720p which is sad because if it happened a few years later then they would have been 4k just like how all OG Xbox games run at 4K. It's a mess.

You can’t do that on the ps5 because of the limitations hdmi and you can’t force 120Hz on the ps5

Issue is more so that ps4 games don’t natively support 120hz so it would take more effort to make it work especially since the full range of ps5’s gpu isn’t available for ps4 and ps4 pro enhanced games so it’d likely not work well. But never say never I guess.

I think it's important to mention that the "short comings" of the PS5 compared to the price point is, completely, the fault of the scalpers and game developers. If the PS5 wasn't so elusive for so long ( at a resale average of $1500 ), game developers would have prioritized what was known as "next-gen" consoles at that time... Games and their developers, TO THIS DAY , include PS4 compatibility for this reason. The stock of the PS5 was there, by the way, the first day alone was at around 5 million units. So the scalping of the console was what made it so hard for developers to prioritize it because they would lose sales of their games since most people didn't have the PS5 at release. The pandemic allowed a lot of people who were at home to start the resale business and whatnot; reselling limited fashion items, collectibles, and electronics so it gatekept many gamers from buying what would have been next-gen exclusives. You can see the difference in graphics of next-gen console games. You just can't expect developers to make double the amount of ports for old-gen consoles without sacrificing performance (frame rate, refresh, ray-tracing, etc.). It's like making one game for PS4 (limited capability) and one game for PS5 (max performance). That's a lot of money they would lose. And that's why the PS5 Pro is introducing AI upscaling to old-gen games.

I bought my disc drive from Walmart, the day after i pre ordered it. The only thing that worries me about this situation, is they sold us the dual sense edge with the promise of being able to swap thumb stick modules, but they NEVER have thumb stick modules in stock. I hope this disc drive doesn't end up being the same way. I picked up my PS5 Pro yesterday and honestly I cannot tell much of a difference. I can say Elden Ring does run way better though. I went ahead and ordered Sony’s M9 INZONE 4K HDR monitor with VRR support so hopefully that really helps cause my current monitor lacks 4K and VRR

it feels like graphics these days have a lot of diminishing returns as far as raw quality. You may not notice a big difference unless you're looking at the Pro and regular side by side. The benefit of the pro will be PSSR and higher frame rates in uncapped games. And VRR if your TV supports it

Since the days of the RROD, I have utilized a small air temperature sensor to keep track of the exhaust temperature. The original PS5 Disc edition operated at approximately 127°F while playing God of War, whereas the PS5 Pro with a Disc Drive maintains a temperature of 107°F during the same game. Another thing I I noticed is the PS5 Pro is much quieter whereas the standard ps5 sounded like a jet engine.

I picked mine up yesterday. Overall I’m happy with it but I was hoping for a bit more. I’m not underwhelmed but definitely not overwhelmed. I tested a few games on my 65” Samsung w/ VRR 120hz etc etc about 11’ away. 7 Days to Die was my non upgraded game Litmus Test. On PS5 it would drop well below the 48fps VRR in cities. On PS5 Pro it’s definitely better but far from cured. I have a lot more confidence fighting hordes of zombies in the cities now with not as much fear frame dips will get me killed. That said it’s still not smooth in those areas. Horizon and The Last of Us were my upgraded game test. Annnndddd I guess they look better?…. I mean they were already best in class so it’s hard to notice an upgrade to fidelity to be honest. Finally no man’s sky. On PS5 with frame rate unlocked it would bounce around 40-60 fps. On PS5 Pro it’s locked 60 and looks “cleaner”. I’m probably the most happy with NMS. Overall I would say, if you have the disposable income go for it. However if the price is a point of contention with you just know you’re not missing out on a lot, at least not yet. Regardless complaining about the price of a luxury item no one needs speaks more to your character than the product. A lot of things in this world I can’t afford or don’t see the value in, complaining about it just makes me sound like I’m being defensive of my (low) financial standing.

It's not that PlayStation lost an exclusive, it's that Death Stranding was under a similar deal to No Man's Sky in that Sony would be the distributor and publisher of the title for a limited time with rights reverting back to the developer after that time frame was up. They still have credits in the final release if the game so they are still very much there in every version just as Sony still has credits in the final release of LA Noire despite Rockstar ultimately owning and publishing that title after Sony supported it for years.

Even though black myth wukong doesn't have a enhanced patch it doesn't much different, but plays much better i was getting a lot of stutters on the ps5 slim, but been playing it a lot on the pro and not had one stutter, and it's running nearer 60fps on performance, hopefully it'll get a official enhanced patch

This machine is amazing and really enjoying it. NX Gamer made a good point on his analysis about the current performance of the machine being bound by API and software limitations from devs and not the hardware itself. The hardware is more than capable of hitting its target frame rates but developers will have to program it accordingly and spend time doing so. A lot of what you are seeing with fps instability is due to game engine limitations based on original design of the game when it was created. I’m not going to say well “ DF said this or that so PlayStation Pro sucks and can’t run games at 60fps” haters will always try to find the negatives in anything they don’t agree with. I look at the positives and understand it’s not a high end PC. It’s not supposed to be that. This machine was built to give “ PS console players” The best experience and they accomplished that 100 percent and will only get better over the coming year. If you want the absolute best experience and money is no object then build a PC and be happy spending twice as much to get that experience. Sony priced it to make the margins they want to justify bringing this console to market when they didn’t have to. No amount of hating on the price or saying it’s not worth it is going to magically make them go oh we should make this console 499 and give the disc drive for free. You can forget about cheap consoles being a thing just like PC GPUs being cheap and providing better performance than current gen consoles. Be happy with your choice and let other people enjoy the choice they made too. I’m just happy we got options to get what we want to play games we love and enjoy

In EU disc drivers situation is like in france since the ps5 pro was announced all the scalpers took them. Hopefully i felt the shit before and was able to get one at that time but otherwise since the'you can find disc driver only on ebay between 200€-300€ so more in $$$

The system is actually doing its job, i received mines on the 6th, did a little unboxing etc video. When i plugged it because i got it a day early the pro enhanced games weren’t available yet. But me trying just for fun silent hill 2 and outlast trials. Even without the pro enhancement yet, the games truly somehow looked clearer and more detailed . It’s almost like i put on better glasses lol. I kept trying to make sure i wasn’t just trying to convince myself, but it truly does look better, even the Home Screen somehow looks better lol. As of the 7th release day of the patches I’ve only tried re village and it does look better. I also have a lg g4 tv. And The weird thing when i streamed on KZbin, even without me saying anything my subscribers somehow noticed the differences too, even with the compressed KZbin video quality. I didn’t think it would look different for KZbin but yet somehow it does. So so far I’m not regretting my purchase thank god 😩

Seeing a difference even with KZbin compression and non-enhanced games? I don’t know about that. I mean when sailors were out at sea they were convinced they saw mermaids when they actually saw manatees. The mind can play tricks if you believe something hard enough. And if I spent $700+ on a console I’d want to believe it too.

The stick modules have also been out of stock for so long in the EU. So annoying that you pay over €200 to get a dualsense edge that has a feature for swapping out stick modules and they are never in stock. Probably have to buy a new normal dual sense controller if this problem continues.

I found the drive & stand at GameStop & to buy the disc drive I had to sub to GameStop’s program for $25 for the year I did it but that has to be illegal holding merchandise behind a pay wall.

Is anyone else having games randomly added to their home screen shortly after watching a screen share of someone playing the game? So far I have had FF XIV and Metaphor show up on my home screen after watching friends play through screen share. I tested and launched 7 Days to Die on my end and shared my screen to them and they both had that game show up on their home screen as well.

Contacting Sony about it resulted in them just telling me to rebuild database on a brand new system (PS5 Pro) and then told me to tell my friends that happen to coincidently have the same issue to do the same.

I have been playing around with the Pro for a day now, installed the drive, stand, got all my PS4/PS5 games loaded and tested, and I absolutely love the Pro, and the added storage. Money is no object and for me, I say money well spent as I am a console only gamer and needed to replace my launch digital PS5 as back in 2020 could not find a disc PS5, and it allows me to retire my PS4 Pro since many of my PS4 games are physical. It probably is not needed for all gamers but I am fine with it.

I honestly think Sony themselves will start licensing/porting more games third parties and Nintendo after Lego Horizon... They have some niche IP's that will do good as multiplatform titles. Similar to how they licensed out Freedom Wars to Bamco, who are making it a multiplatform release

Call me a conspiracy theorist, but are they purposely keeping the disk drives out of stock to force people to buy digital? I'm in the UK and just got the Pro, but the bulk of my PS5 library is on physical disk, so I'm limited to what I can play until these disk drives are re-stocked.....

Most likely, yes. A means to gradually coerce consumers to embrace digital and begin leaving physical media behind. That's the direction the industry wants to go in and most people have already adapted to it, just some stubborn holdouts. This is Sony's way of saying "start getting used to it" because there's a very good chance the next console they drop, whether it be the PS6 or another variant of the PS5, is not even going to give you the option for a disc drive.

I'm not sure if i would call elden ring unoptimized - quality mode is a flat 4k output without any drs or reconstruction techniques. Most other games this gen do not do that.

The money Sony paid for Death Stranding was a waste imo. Kojima is just a name at this point, his games dont have the impact anymore. I guess Sony assumed that Kojima will produce a banger game but that wasnt the case. I remember the conflict Kojima had with the prior Publisher and even then it was kinda obvious that Kojima is the issue… I hope Sony doesnt put any more money into Kojima, look at Astro Bot, even that game had an bigger impact. There are so many good Devs out there…

I put about 20hrs into the original Death Stranding, as a lover of the MGS series I found DS to be interesting, but it never clicked for me, I felt my self trying to like it more than I did but in the end I just realized it’s not for me 🤷🏾‍♂️
