The Elden Ring DLC was big enough that it was big enough to be its own game in pretty much every category. Map size, time to complete. The only thing that makes it not its own game is that you have to own/play thru the base game to get to it. So while I understand the sentiment, I also understand why this DLC might be the exception based on size and quality. But I do understand the outrage.

@@nikitos3558 You are clearly not paying attention. That’s the whole problem for consoles. The number of console customers isn’t going up much. Just the amount each customer spends is. That’s why so many developers develop on mobile. We all forgot mobile is a huge chuck of what we now call “the games industry”. Like it or not, that’s where the new customers are. On consoles, they are being forced to find ways to milk more out of us. I am not trying to justify prices or anything, but a lot or people don’t understand the problem. If you think about it, you’ll realize this make what’s happening make more sense. It also explains why PS2 and Nintendo DS never seem to loose their “best selling console” crowns. And, I mean, don’t take my word for it. There are tons of articles discussing this. But no one likes these details because it makes the whole issue a whole lot harder to reconcile.

Sadly this is one of the games that has performance issues on this new Pro mode, frames dip to around 40 at times and there are visual issues tied to lighting and shadows so it doesn't actually work. And since they don't allow you the option of switching, you're stuck with the busted mode til its patched.

I think the industry will eventually move towards one license on any platform. Meaning you buy a game once and you are free to play it on any console, PC, or handheld it is available on (think of multi-platform game releases). They can do like Netflix to stop abuse of that policy. But whatever company does it first, I expect they will be both profitable and build huge positive goodwill with their customers. This is because most customers do not buy the same game twice. And I know many would try the same game on another platform if they already have access to another platform- like trying a PC, or PS cloud gaming if you already have a game on something else.

It is small news, but Assassin's Creed Syndicate finally got a 60fps update this week. I am going to jump back in the game tonight and check it out. Next year is the game's ten year anniversary too, so the update is nice timing. It is the most underrated Assassin's Creed game in my opinion. I loved the Victorian British setting, and have fond memories of this game as a teenager at the time of its release; I remember that E3 cinematic reveal trailer, which featured a remix of a Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds song.

Don't think DLC should be considered best GAME of the year. They just need a DLC category. I also agree remasters don't belong, but reMAKES could. Could be the industry needs better categories/categorizing/better nomenclature/separation of things. Still... DLC is part of an already released game, full stop. Just because something is beloved or objectively high quality doesn't mean it should magically break the rules/rules of logic/receive special treatment. The cheapest 8K TV that I had found here in my country was around $4000 to $$6000 (LG and Samsung models) It was almost the same price back when 4K was new and starting. The PS5 had Zen 2 cores, which were a year old by the time the PS5 came out. And they even put them on a newer node that was used for Zen 3. Sony doesn’t need to use an ancient CPU architecture to save on cost. It makes much more sense to cut out the parts they don’t need like AVX512 support and “too much” cache. Zen 6c, is a much much more likely candidate. Comping out a year or two before the PS6 and already being a simplified version of the desktop architecture, focused more on size and energy efficiency.

The Golden Joystick Awards showed that it can be done and for the TGAs, specifically, they could've given the award off-stage/off-camera just like how other prestigious award shows do it. I have no problem with any games/dlc being in the list. I think there should be a line like you cant vote call of duty adding new maps as a dlc for game of the year. idk what that would be but elden ring dlc could have been a stand alone game… i think it just pushes developers to make better games. Think about it if you get beat by an indie game or a dlc your game probably wasn’t that great or the indie developer made a fantastic game and deserves to win.
