People saying they can build a gaming pc for the same price with the same specs are totally lying. You need to compromise a lot for this price. You either need to build it with used parts, or compromise on the graphics you want. 4k 60fps is at least 1200-1500 prebuilt pc. Those prebuilt at 700$ will need upscaling for sure, and even then, you won’t run at max or ultra graphics setting. And forget about ray tracing. 4k, 60 fps, ray tracing at max graphics is at least a 1200$ pc. And i’m pretty sure I’m being generous here. So yeah, the ps5 pro is kinda ok for the price it’s asking. Still, it’s too much. I wouldn’t pay for it, the advantage it gives are not worth the price. In canada, I can upgrade my gpu to a 4080 and change my motherboard for this price. There’s no way I would pay 700$ for the pro.

But right now it’s more closer to 1300$. But the ps5 pro with the stand and disc drive will cost the same in canada when uou include the taxes.

You make some good points, but they are selling the PS5 Pro as the premium version of PS5 so all it should include the drive and stand. At scale it probably cost Sony less than $15 dollars to add the drive and stand but they want to gouge us $100 to buy them separately. If they would have just released one version of the PS5 Pro with a drive and stand at $699 it would have gone over much better.

Finally, someone who I agree with. I want to see a PC that outperforms the PS5 Pro running side by side, I am expecting the Pro to be untouchable even at the price. Even if a PC did cost slightly more (it doesn't) you get all of the games. A big problem I'm seeing is that people have no idea what the comp for a PS5 is. You could beat a PS5 Pro for 800.00. If you love PlayStation PC shouldn't matter. It's definitely overpriced for what it offers though.

PlayStation Pro is for the tools and features that were left off of the base model. The whole showcase was about PSSR and the other big 2. You notice that no specs were given? Hear anything much about the CPU? They hyped the GPU up, and that only solves half of the problem. You don't need the latest graphics cards to play games, definitely not to beat out consoles. You're happy to be done with PC, but you want your console to behave like a PC... Make it make sense. Console players didn't care about FPS until PC players told them it was ''unplayable.'' Instead of just playing games you all are counting frames and pixels.

This kind of comparison to PC to prove value is played out.They did the same thing with the PS3. You get more bang for your buck because of the cost of the tech. The PS3 was launched at 600 bucks, but the parts were worth well over 900. That doesn't matter. The cost isnt the same as the value. The value is the most important thing. 699 could be a low price considering the cost of production. But it doesn't have the value, to most people. What is a piece of hardware worth if it's not worth all that much. It's the usage that determines if something has value or not..

Bro you have many good points, but, stop thinking that microsoft will do the same exact thing as Sony, they won't make a pro version because they don't needt it. Their strategy is long term, and they have to work their ass off (which they aredoing) before they get all the attention that eventually they will get. Another thing to note, their strategy is not mainly focused in selling consoles, although they care, is not their most important movement, and saying that they lost the "war" is like propaganda by the press to bring Sony to the top even when they have been falling down in quality considerably compared to previous generations. PS5 pro won't be a success if you do not give to the people what they want: quality games, because even their exclusives do not sell as much as the Nintendo ones for example, not even close for real. Honestly, I highly doubt the ps5 pro could improve a lot, they didn't mention an improvement in the CPU so technically the Series X AND S CPUs are still ahead. If you ask me, the best choice quality-price is a Series X so far. A lot of people buy ps5 by inertia, which is sad, because right now xbox is in a way better place for literally everything. The only reason to buy a PS5 is if you like specific games that are only in that platform, otherwise, it just doesn't make sense.

I have an Xbox Series X and a PS5. My Xbox has been far less problematic than my PS5. My PS5 is on its second version because the first one kept overheating. I had to jump through hoops to get Sony to fix it for $200. Now they are releasing a new Pro version so soon after the first. Considering the two years of shortages and scalping. It just feels like a slap in the face considering the only thing i really think was worth its purchase was spiderman games... so expensive for Peter Parker and Miles.

Yeah, there are a bunch of games that only run at 30fps with limited ray tracing like Elden Ring, Cyberpunk 2077, GT7, etc. Sony is claiming that the ray tracing on PS5 Pro is enhanced and runs at 60fps. We’ll see if that’s actually the case, but if it is then it will be easily noticeable.

There was a time when I would literally drool over the tech specs of upcoming consoles when I read about them in gaming mags. This was in the PS1-PS2 era. Such specs have not interested me in the least for the past two decades. Especially since on every new generation, there is less evolution on the hardware. From Ps3 to PS4 was still solid jump forward. PS4Po to PS5, I cannot honestly see ANY difference in games whether I play them on PS4Pro or PS5 today. Most games on pc are still superior then the console version. Most of the sony games are actually superior on pc. Cyber punk, Alan wake and jedi outlaws are way superior. The PC port thing isn’t really a PC problem, it’s a developer problem. Is just easier for them to develop games for consoles because they know the exact hardware their game will be running on. If you want the best possible experience then a high-end PC will be the best answer, but also the most expensive. As for the cpu, you can get a CPU that’s faster than a PS5 Pro at a decent price but without a good GPU you won’t get close to PS5 Pro performance. That’s where it gets pricy. A $700 PC will look significantly worse though you could certainly use it for games like League or CS.

you have no clue of what your talking about its not just about the hardware its about freedom of what u have as pc owner why would sony or microsoft making loose selling hardware because then on long run they can monopolize their stuff.Also when 1 part of pc break its easy fix mostly when 1 part of lets say ps5 break its a hassle or even almost impossible to replace ,or when you want to upgrade something its also a hassle on console.For me buying a consol is like signing a bad contract which will suck u dry over time lol

You also have to consider that the consumer can't ignore things like online subscriptions and a closed ecosystem where consumers are at the mercy of developer's. Meanwhile in PC your free to optimize your game the way you want plus you don't pay to play online. Can be a higher cost at first but youl save money in the long run since games are cheaper as well , in conclusion you have my dislike sir for missinformation and glorifying Sony all the way. 👍
