I'll have to disagree with your comment about the PS5 offering more controller colors. XBOX has a huge catalog of controller variations and special editions (not to forget mentioning the design lab where you can make your own) that are first party as well as many themed controllers the PS5 doesn't come close to.

@@etherthedragon2273 Work fine to me. I own both and I don't think there's anything about the PS5 controller that makes it largely better than the XBOX ones. The adaptive triggers are a gimmick at best and a battery hog at worst. I've either turned them down to low or off during long gaming sessions to save my fingers from fatigue. The gyroscope feature seems to have very little use (for me at least) as well. Both are good controllers and the PS5 controller is the best PlayStation has ever done but I don't think it's as revolutionary as they market it.

I went from the Xbox One to the PS5. I invested alot of money into digital games on the PS5, even pre ordered the ultimate edition of FIFA 24. Had i not invested all this money in the PS eco system, I would have switched back to the Xbox world. Why? The UI feels better, you can interact via chats on every single game... and it's more social.

U are so wrong. PS ecosystem feels next gen. XBOX feels old. I had XSX and before XoneX and it was disappointing seeing the same old ugly UI menu. Now XBOX looks old and even the new polished UI feels old. UI on PS5 is far better overall also some other features. Smoother and faster. Bro common give me some better reason. PS5 is bigger in community wise.

​@ Hard disagree. It's UI is a common critisism of the PS5 I do think it presents better. It's new and clean and fresh. But it terms of actually using it and function, Xbox is undeniably better. I do think Xbox would have benefited with a new UI to feel new and fresh. If it remained as good that is. But we didn't get that, but the Xbox UI functionality and ease is absolutely better.

I own both consoles, but I give the edge to the PS5 for having an upgraded controller, a cheaper memory upgrade path, and VR headset that expands the experience. Microsoft's advantage is with quick resume, dual ownership of games for PC, and GamePass. It's all about preference. I enjoy graphics of each console, but PS5 offers a greater level of immersion by a mile compared to the XSX.

I enjoy the unique feedback from the controller, and how easy (and inexpensive) to upgrade storage. I use my series X to play more AAA titles and for Game pass benefits.

During last gen I had both ps4 and xbox one I firstly got the ps4 due to it being slightly more powerful and cheaper even got the ps4 pro but once the one x came out I fully switched and honestly never looked back I bought the series x for launch got it November 2020 and love everything about it don’t ever think about PlayStation exclusives at all because 1-2 games don’t justify a entire consoles in my opinion.

Sorry but unless sony announces bloodborne remaster,remake or bloodborne 2 i just have no use for my ps5 over the series x. I own ps5, xbox, switch and pc and I gotta say. The series S/X has an amazing catalog of games. Game Pass, 360, og Xbox. Also, you can emulate Wii, Gamecube, Ds, 3ds, Ps2 etc on these consoles, and it’s just surreal. Not counting that MS will probably buy Activision Blizzard too, therefore. Gamepass will become even more valuable. Xbox is a good environment now. Every console is a winner, I understand that it’s hard to have all platforms. So, it’s down to preferences.

Not to mention sony has lost more rights to games and microsoft is buying companies up left and right. I own both consoles but unless sony announces a Bloodborne remaster or bloodborne 2 i have no reason to turn on the ps5. Newer games are also staying at a consistant frame rate on series X while ps5 has ton of more drops in frames and this is due to the graphics card being 2gigs weaker.

From a PC gamer's perspective, it seems like the PS5 is usually the choice of people that are more I guess 'hardcore' gamers. While the Xbox, it seems like is more popular among gaming hobbyists, given that the series S is the better seller of the two. However, I do still think Xbox is feeling the effects of their disastrous X1 launch. I think they permanently alienated a lot of potential customers. I did buy a ps5 last month just to play FF16 and FF7R2, but i'll probably sell it when i'm done with both of those games.

I’m also a pc gamer. I have a high end gaming pc and don’t really have a point for getting a new console. But the ps5 has been grabbing my attention recently. Mainly for the fact that it has amazing exclusives that takes a while for it to be ported onto PC. But at the same time, I love Xbox. Great catalog of games, backwards compatible with majority of Xbox games, and more. Either way, I love both. Might get the Xbox though. Edit: Why do I still prefer Xbox? - Backwards compatible with most games I play - Slightly better in specs - Xbox game pass (even though it’s on PC) it has a good quantity of games. - Two ps5 exclusives that I want to play isn’t going to make me stick with ps5 for the long run. Comes to personal preference though.

Just makes no sense to have such a great console like an Xbox, and not commit to making masterclass titles taking advantage of it it’s specs and power. The Activision/Blizzard/Bethesda deal was in result of Microsoft desperately trying to even the playing field. They spent the money, purchased existing titles, (because they haven’t made their own great one in a while) and have a chance. PS5 still had 15 million more units sold than XboxX, and until they figure out how to get amazing games consistently, without spending billions to purchase existing IP, they will NEVER win a console war. To me it is more comfortable than the PS controllers, even though the PS controllers aren't bad. Xbox could definitely put some new features in the controller though. Finally bought a ps5 last year. Loving it so far. Currently playing baulders gate 3 on ps5, and looking forward to Spiderman 2. The system has been amazing at playing all my streaming services and all my saved digital games. I prefer the ps5 controller way more than xbox, theirs just seems clunky and bulky in my opinion. The haptics arent game breaking, but in a game like "the last of us", its pretty neat to pull the trigger to shoot a gun and get the resistance and release like a real trigger. The console itself is bigger than I thought it would be and it took some shuffling around to make it fit on the entertainment center shelf. The exclusive games are top notch so far. I haven"t really been into games like CoD for years, and Fallout 76 turned me off of Bethesda games, so the Activision/Blizzard/Bethesda buyout doesn't hurt my feelings. I'll just buy a PC to play those ganes someday if i really want to.

I am switching back to console after years of pc gaming, and i've owned and loved both xbox and playstation over the years. Developers prioritize consoles over pc due to them paying the subscription and that's why consoles are cheaper too to make it more affordable and invites more players leading to the up for sales, active player numbers thus making it easier for investors to give more money. Then we have the plus side of owning a physical copy that can be shared and resold with tendency of it being on sale for cheap price as well. On digital you can as well on pc sharing install files but physical copy just feels different. Yeah pc is more of status thing now who has the best rig.

Xbox. The Series S is cheaper, Game Pass, while more expensive month to month, gives you day 1 games for the price of the sub instead of $70 (or wait about a year or more with Playstation), and even the controllers are cheaper.

It depends on which games you want to play: if you want to play for example call of duty I’d say Xbox series x because of the stable frame rate and Activision acquisition, if you want to play Fortnite xbox series s is perfect with stable 120 fps; if you want to play other games both ps and Xbox are really good and it depends if you like exclusives or not. A thing to keep in mind if you get the Xbox you can buy digital games for much less on sites like instant gaming… instead of having to buy them from the Microsoft store. On PS there are just a few games that you can buy from other stores.

Owning both consoles they are great in their own rights but I’d lean a little more towards the Xbox: along with quick resume smart delivery and backwards compatibility is a great feature especially now when Rockstar announced RDR remaster for $50 on Switch and PS5, emulation, and a very underrated feature in game share. I hear you about their exclusives being short but maybe that changes in this generation. Either way you’re getting a great console no matter what you choose.

I'm a lifelong Playstation user but I'm not fanboy and I have been gaming since 1990. This generation I bought a Xbox due to them purchasing obsidian and Bethesda I first bought a series S because I never owned a Xbox and I knew it would be easy to preorder at launch and later on I loved it so much I bought a series X I have not bought a PS5 yet but I will. My best friend has a PS5. I am highly satisfied with both the series S and X and I do not regret the decision to switch. I can't wait for starfield avowed and outer worlds 2. Right now outside of spiderman And GOW I have no reason to run out and buy a PS5 until I see more exclusives I want. Meanwhile gamepass has kept me satisfied and with games landing on it like hi fi rush, MLB the show, Forza horizon, Halo, physconaughts 2, grounded, persona and Yakuza series I have been satisfied with just having my Xbox

Fantastic breakdown. The one area despite being a PlayStation owner since 2001 when I bought a PS2 where I will say Xbox is HEAD AND SHOULDERS ABOVE PS IS GamePass!! The fact that Microsoft actually offers you DAY AND DATE RELEASES on GamePass is PHENOMENAL!! PlayStation Plus even at the premium tier that I get, is an ABSOLUTE WASTE especially when in comparison to GamePass!! I think one important factor why people choose one console over another is which platform they have used to use till now. PS or Xbox. Xbox is fully backward compatible so your already collected game library follows to Series X, your online friends follows and your achievements. PS5 is backward compatible with PS4 games so for former PS4 owners it probably makes more sense to update to PS5.

Being a late buyer of next gen consoles, i gotta say the "Smart Delivery" feature was a nice pro-consumers move. To have the "next gen" update without having to buy a "remastered" version is great. Got Cyberpunk & the Assassin's Creed at a low price on Xbox One and now can play them on the XSX with better graphics is great! Also the 120fps support on the XSX beat the PS5 in the dust so far in this gen. I don't know why the disparity is there but it is! 🤷🏼‍♂️

I've owned both the Playstation and Xbox since the beginning. For me, getting both has always been a foregone conclusion. Each has held its own over the years when it comes to gaming experience. Each has had it's share of must-have exclusives. Frankly, if you like video games, it's pretty safe to assume that you will end up with both consoles. That said, what I do like about the PS5 over the Xbox Series X has nothing to do with gaming, but more on the hardware side. For example, adding more storage to the PS5 is easier than the Xbox. I also like the controller on the PS5 better than the Xbox. The lack of USB-C support on the Xbox is strange, although I suspect it will be there when the updated version comes out. Lastly, and I realize this is nitpicking, the naming convention for the Playstation is infinitely better than the Xbox. Whoever comes up with the Xbox model names at MS needs to be fired.

Microsoft intends to make Xbox a dumbed down gaming PC, with all major titles having both Windows or XBOX versions. It's becoming less of a console and more of a nerfed PC. At least Nintendo and Sony are sticking with console conventions and bringing users unique experiences that are exclusive to their systems. Not everyone can afford a $1500 to $3000 PC, so Xbox is a decent value for some -- but sadly, it's far too redundant once you have a capable PC that can run all the same games.

As a Series X owner for several years, here’s issues I’ve had: the mic system is proprietary so most headsets need to be custom made for Xbox. It does not use USB mics. The quick resume is overhyped because you get booted off games like Madden since your network disconnects from the game, ruining your progress. The exclusives suck…Halo and Gears have never been as legendary as final fantasy or metal gear. The only pros for it are game pass, and the more matured design. Otherwise PS5 is far more utilitarian and freeing.

For me it's the Xbox Series X and it's not even close. Backwards Compatibility, Game Pass Ultimate, Quick Resume, smart delivery all have made me choose Xbox as my primary gaming console this generation. I use my ps5 for its exclusives, last time i used my ps5 was for Ragnarok and that was a great game, had fun getting platinum on it. Ima be honest, i love playing games from 7th gen, imo thats when games were at their absolute peak. Dont get me wrong, we still get great games today but i feel like it's fucking RARE when we get an amazing game like we did back then. We mainly get remakes now bc i feel like developers can't come up with anything original. But still, some newer games that i loved playing are Eldin Ring, Psychonauts 2, Resident Evil Village, Forza Horizon 5, A Plague Tale: Requiem, GOW Ragnarok, Ratchet and Clank rift apart, Resident Evil 4 remake, Dead space remake, Mass Effect Legendary edition, Destroy all Humans 2 reprobed, and Pac-Man World Re-pac. Being able to put my old games in my series x and play them without having to pay for a subscription or any kind of bs was the main reason i went with Xbox this generation. I've had a lot of fun replaying some classics and also trying out great games for the first time too. Plus...ive been having a blast playing mw2 (2009), cod4, bo1 n bo2 with some buddies since Xbox fixed the servers for them! Patiently waiting for Starfield to come out on Game Pass...3 more days to go. Also looking forward to Spider-Man 2 on ps5, Starfield will definitely keep me busy until then lol. Edit: i completely forgot to mention that a lot of games including even 360 games have FPS Boost, Auto HDR, and upscaled to 4K and it makes games feel like a brand new experience i absolutely love it. Fallout 3, Assassin's Creed, the Far Cry's, Tomb Raider, Gears of war games, F.E.A.R , Fable and a lot more games feel so smooth because of fps boost

I own a series x and a high end liquid cooled Alienware pc gaming setup with a 240hz Alienware monitor overall it was around 5000$ I even own a 3000$ apple laptop. This is always hard. Sony first party games are neigh untouchable in quality with only Nintendo really competing on that level. But once done I rarely go back to replay them anymore to be honest ... yet they are experiences most definitely worth having. But at the same time lots of their games fall into the same cliche style now and they don't take the risks they used to. Sony's controller was more innovative,however I dislike the symmetrical Sticks and super short battery life with no way to change it. They opted for a more consumer friendly NVME drive for more storage also which is great. However I dislike the use of LiquidMetal in the console as long term it doesn't hold up and the average consumer will have no idea how to work with it if it needs redoing or re spreading. Their pro controller fixed drift but adding hot swap analogs...but only has two back triggers kind of defeating the point since they are often used to replace face buttons entirely. Xbox has the best services in the business full stop,but their first party output is lacking and has never gone back to 360 levels..not even close. Their controller is more comfortable imo and being able to use higher MaH packs or rechargeable AA is highly preferable,yet they didn't really innovate with it at all... They used easy to install storage cards but...they are overpriced as hell and only two brands currently make them. The console in paper is more powerful than ps5 but we are rarely seeing that in reality. Why? No idea but it's truth. Xbox is investing far more into buying studios than Sony is for the future,but it's also taking them far too long to produce content honestly. The console itself is more attractive and easier to fit into an entertainment center,also no liquid metal used which is a huge plus. It's also extremely modular and much easier to work on if need be. Xbox is taking far more risks with different game types than Sony is these days,but many of those risks are not paying off either. Xbox elite controllers have four back buttons,FEEL higher quality and have vastly superior battery life....but also have a large number of QC complaints also....so it's kind of a wash. It's truthfully best to have both but I realize for most that isn't realistic. Myself,I use my XSX for most things,but once a good PS exclusive releases my Xbox stays off until I finish that. If I could not afford both?...hell I don't know honestly. That's tough. Thinking toward the distant future doesn't make it any easier either. PlayStation has a ton less money to invest and take risks with than Xbox does. But PlayStation is a keystone of keeping Sony solvent. Lots of their other business ventures saw losses recently. So it's super important for PlayStation to stay successful for them. Xbox could ride out decades of losing money and take much bigger risks than Sony can and be totally fine,but this IS Microsoft were talking about here and eventually if things don't turn a corner who knows..they could dump or sell the brand entirely. An easy recommendation is a Switch to compliment either though lol.

I'm fortunate enough to own both and although I still do love the PS5, I would choose SX. Aside from the SSD, there aren't any features on PS5 that are next gen, and I don't think the game library is particularly strong. Quick Resume on Xbox is a game changer; I like to play 2 or 3 games at a time, so that it is amazing for me and a true next gen feature; something that couldn't be done on the previous generation. Gamepass has allowed me to play some of my favourite games this generation that I otherwise wouldn't have paid for as they initially didn't take my fancy. The Xbox pad is still the best. VRR works better on SX. I prefer the game library.

Owning both is great as you have the best of both worlds. I started out with just the Series X and ended up feeling I was missing out on some of those Playstation exclusives (e.g The last of Us remake, Unchartered, Spiderman Mile Morales etc...). If you could only buy one, I'd say PS5 is the way to go, as PS Plus is almost as good as Gamepass now (minus the same day releases) and the range of exclusives is stronger. You're not really missing out on much by just having a PS5. However, as time has gone by - I've ended up using the PS5 for Sony exclusives only. For everything else, that is multi-platform, I seem to revert back to my Series X - a big reason is wireless control battery life, which is absolutely rubbish on the dual sense controllers, compared to the 40+ hours on an Xbox Elite controller. Backwards compability is stronger on the Series X, with a load of old games that you can't buy or play on the PS5 at all. Peformance for 'most' multi-platform games either seems to be equal to, or a little bit better, than the PS5 on the Series X. Sony exclusives is where the PS5 really shines. A lot of rambling there. TLDR - if you can only afford one, consider PS5 - for the full experience, get both and enjoy the best of what both consoles can offer.

To be quite fair (I was originally a PS4 owner). I switched to the Xbox series X and have been having a blast whether playing with my friends or spending countless hours on game pass playing a huge selection. Technically, PS5 is dominating mostly due to their exclusives, but both consoles are equally matched. I do have a little regret because if Ghost of Tsushima 2 comes out or The Last of US III it will hurt me because I absolutely loved those two games. I’ve always had a problem with the whole “exclusives” argument where you’re exclusively paying $69.99 for a one player game. If it was at least $20.00 cheaper I’d give not only the edge to PlayStation as far as games go, but also their prices for their exclusives. Don’t get me wrong, their exclusives are great, it just doesn’t balance out compared to multiplayer exclusives on other consoles.

I think you forgot one point but correct me if im wrong. When in a xbox series x game for example warzone. You can go into the quick menu and go to search for groups, this allows you to find people that you can play with, which makes it a lot easier to communicate. I find this very nice because when your friends are offline you can just search for a group instead of playing with randoms

Thanks for this review. It has helped me decide since I needed to upgrade my PS4. I've picked the PS5. Even though I can acknowledge the better GPU power of Xbox X for shooting games and game pass, PS5 can play my PS4 games and my family likes the Spiderman series. Also, I prefer great story games than shooting games. Thus, PS5 wins 🏆 in that category.

To be honest when it comes to 3rd party support, the XSX will give you the better fidelity and PS5 will give you the better frame rate, but we're talking 3-5fps more which you're not going to notice. XSX has much better VRR limitations too, so for 3rd party XSX wins in this department. For exclusives I give it to PS5 , but it's subjective as it depends if you like PlayStation exclusives. I own both so no fanboy comment from me.

I own a ps5, series s, switch, and pc. Ive always been and will be a playstation guy. But i love all of my systems and depending on what i want to play is what console ill end up playing on. Its all personal preference and they are all great. I honestly only care about forza when it comes to xbox exclusives. But game pass and how compact the series s is its usaully my travel system if i want something more powerful than my switch or i just dont feel like dragging my ps5 with me. They all have a use to me and fill that use perfectly.

The problem with xbox is all they think about is game pass. Xbox cant make AAA game and then lose huge amounts of money by putting it on game pass for £10 a month. That's why we haven't seen a single AAA game that actually delivers.

Matt Booty (the man in charge of xbox exclusives) said about two year ago that xbox will no longer make AAA games and only single A games, he also said that xbox will still be open to AAA game ideas, they’ll just release AAA very rarely. Phil Spencer (the CEO of xbox) backed up this statement about 3 months ago.

Becasue of backwards compatibility the library of games is actually larger on xbox series which is why i choose it as my favorite. Being able to play skate 1 2 and 3 on a modern console is a big deal to me and unfortunately PS5 doesnt allow me to do that.

You do realize ps5 has a quick resume as well as a switcher which allows you to jump from app to app and they both get dirty around the same and there both big and kind of hard to find space for unless your standing them up

I feel in the minority as a pc owner. I have a pc and ps5 and honestly I don’t care for the ps5 anymore. All ps5 games are on pc and the ps5 offers no way to access most ps classics. The series x can play almost every classic Xbox game and other games from the past. Also all of my friends own a Xbox so I kinda can’t play older games with them. The Xbox one controller was honestly perfect for every pc game I own so I can imagine how great it would be on its own home console. My ps5 controller has started to be annoying to deal with as the d-pad is one of the worst d-pads ever made and an over abundance of features really bogs down the controller. Has anyone really used the touch pad as more than a button.

All of them are great for their reasons, just entirely depends on what you prefer. The only reason I argue with PlayStation fanboys is because I think PS5, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch are all good, but I can’t stand little pricks on the internet who have a problem with you enjoying games and run their mouths about my choice of gaming systems being bad. We shouldn’t be worshipping the company that makes the console we play on, and just hoping other gamers in another console suffer. We should unite as fellow gamers, and just have fun playing. I agree, I love my ps5 so far. I like the sony exclusives more as im not really into shooters. I also think the controller is much better. The xbox looks better as a design but its about the games for me and xbox really doesnt have much to offer right now. Hopefully starfield is fun and will help the xbox out a little. New Fable coming next year, Hellblade 2, Clockwork revolution, Avowed, Microsoft flight simulator 2024 etc. Are not shooters. And there is much more. And whats wrong with having shooting in games? Its action like any other... God of war is action game too, fighting fighting. Last of us, uncharted and many more PS first parties includes shooting, in your terms are shooters. Real shooters are games like Doom, Halo, Call of Duty etc. Anyhow. And all great game seriesses. Xbox only has 2 shooter seriesses and they are Gears and Halo. So, to say xbox only has shooters is ridiculous. And most games people play are multiplatform, who buys expensive console only for few exclusives anyhow?

Alltho, like I said mostly we play multiplatform games anyhow and both consoles are equal so in that sense both are equally good options. For me essential anyhow is that I can play first day released games from gamepass because I would never pay 70 € for a one game and over all my game library, achievemts etc. Are in xbox. Would not make sense to change, alltho If PS5 would be cheaper could buy it for the ps exclusives only.

Both consoles are great. PlayStation has the better exclusives right now but I feel that by next year Xbox will catch up. The Day N Day of GamePass, quick resume and ease of use with cloud gaming are great optios on the Series Consoles.

Xbox game pass is undefeated . I'm leaning more to it. I currently own a ps5 and a gaming pc. The games offered in the extra/premium ps plus account aren't that good to me for me to be paying $20 a month. Especially since you can now play ps exclusive like Spiderman, God of War and others on PC. Really comes down to personal preference. I also like the vibrant graphic colors on the Xbox
