An excellent drum..wide tuning range. I swapped out the OEM batter head for a Remo Emperor, (I didn't want to play on the original OEM batter head anyway..it was signed by Carl Palmer at the 'ELP Legacy' show I bought the drum at) and the OEM snare attachment strings for tapes. Woke that little drum up it really cracks. A very attractive drum too.

Hi thomas! Yeah, Very cool being at the show and having him sign the batter skin!!!! :) Yeah, So, like you a swapped out the heads and strands as well, including the plastic straps. It's a really solid and beautiful drum! :)

@@BarryBangemout Yeah I had reservations about buying such a shallow depth snare drum but it has far wider tuning range than it's depth would suggest.

Hey mad!, Yeah! Very bright overall, Traditional "Brassy" sounding snare drum. Being at 3.7" also gives it that "Piccolo" sound as well. Also worth noting it's 10 lugs, which I'm not used to. I mentioned in the video, that the drum came in a box labeled "Black Magic 4x14", So what does that mean? was that the original model from which Carl decided to modify? Speaking of Carl, it was his suggestions to change out the strainer ends to the more durable and reliable plastic straps. I also upgraded the strainer to the Pure Sounds, much higher end then the basic grade that came with the drum. Same for the skin they provided, their own coated batter, which I'll keep for prosperity :) I also mentioned in the video that I can see down the road, the plastic stopper for the throw will eventually wear out due to friction. The nuts that each lug screw has, for locking the tuning, is just OK for me, and may prove to be useful, not sure yet. Lastly, not sure either about the Teflon, or probably just hard plastic washers each lug screw has. So maybe I should just try to get some spare parts now maybe, while I still can, as you never know. Overall I do love the way it sounds and responds with my ole faithful Remo Weatherking Coated Ambassador head. The Green colored Brass with all the gold colored Accents everywhere else on the drum, makes it look truly amazing! Thanks mad! :)
