In fact, there is a unique meaning if we talk about the greek in the Bible, a special meaning which is not found in the ancient texts like the Odyssey. According to the biblical greek, εξομολογώ means "give thanks to (the Lord)"

Listening to this I imagine the legionaries of the eastern roman empire. Singing this marching into battle against the empire enemies, asking god for help and glorifing his name. The priests giving benediction to the troops before the battle. Young soldiers anxious besides grizzled veterans, facing the enemy before being ordered to advance. Catholic literally copied lithurgy from Lutheran :) Dont worry, we protestant dont put Pope and corrupt rome as our intermediaries toward Christ itself. Being Southern Baptist most of my life and then pagan for a time. Having the Holy Spirit felt back on Good Friday of this year. The Lord has called me back home. I just couldn't go back to being Baptist. Protestantism is too lacking for me (Not knocking of anyone of that Denomination). So I am in the midst of Catechism of The Roman Catholic Church. Finding out that my Great great grandparents were Eastern Greek Catholic. Now Byzantine rite, style, and culture just feels up lifting to me. Unfortunately Orthodox is very little in my area. (Only 3 churches and they're bit of a drive from where I live). So pray for me in my journey in the Catholic Church.
