Joel said that in the last days the spirit of God will be poured out on all flesh which means pastors, congregations and people who are searching with limited biblical knowledge. So many people are still believing that God's spirit always fall on the pastors and people with professorship. These are the last days and persons who went and study theology are seeing people who have little knowledge of God being get powerful and prophetic words from God. Ezekiel 20 is not about a 're-gathering' but about the first full blown exodus of the Israelites. Their second exodus is described in Isaiah 11. One period of peace will be after Israel's amazing "Psalm 83" victory and then a false peace with the anti-christ. The period of peace after the "Psalm 83" war will be profound enough to lower their guard and live in unguarded/ unwalled villages. The scripture does not say existing walls will be pulled down but rather new villages will be unwalled and unguarded. As for Ezekiel 38 and Rev 20 being the same event, it's a Russian alliance that comes to take plunder in the first instance with the whole world the second time. The 7 year Tribulation period deals with Israel and the unrepentant world masses. The church is not here. The antichrist cannot be revealed until the restrainer (the church) is gone. If the rapture was mid-trib what 'restrainer' would have been removed to reveal the A/C? The restrainer can only be the Church.

'Horses' can easily be other forms of transport. I agree the Bible should be read literally but in some cases allegory is needed. Continued answer to DeWayne Benson. As you can see in Ezekiel 37:21, 22 there is no democratic State of Israel prophesied. Christ Himself shall lead the SECOND exodus back home (Isaiah 11) and there will be a Kingdom established and Christ will reunite the 12 tribes in this Kingdom. The 1947 exodus is not in the bible nor are any of the Israeli wars, because the bible is the history of the Israelites and NOT of the Israelis. Only when their paths cross, the crossings are described.

I do not believe that Psalms 83 is a prophecy at all. There is no indication here that Asaph received these words from God. A prophecy will typically say "Thus says the Lord" or mention being in vision or a dream. This sounds like Asaph pleading with God, probably in prayer, to deliver Israel from its enemies. Asaph even opens up this psalm with the words "O God, do not keep silence". This should tell us that God has not told Asaph anything at all regarding this matter, shouldn't it?

I believe Asaph was given a vision of the future and he appealed to God to help Israel when the war comes along. As this war has never happened, it can only be in the future.

It sounds to me as though Asaph is pleading with God for deliverance from his enemies. There is no promise made here by God, no decrees or anything of that nature. Just Asaph pleading for deliverance.

Tony M The enemies he is asking for deliverance from have NEVER before or since Asaph's day, come together as a confederation. So why would he mention them? This is the clue to it being a future event. Not only has this confederation never come together, it has never 'perished' forever. None of the nations listed have perished. But they will when Israel fights its next major war. And I believe the key to this war starting is Jordan's King losing the throne.

Sure, we could say "Asaph was referring to peoples who will someday live in areas where these nations once occupied", but that is really sloppy prophecy and God doesn't work that way. God is very specific when giving prophecy. 2. There is no mention is Psalms 83 of a war ever actually taking place, only conspiring by nations who are against Israel. 3. This is a lament by Asaph and there is no recorded answer by God. The whole idea of Psalms 83 being a future pre-Gog and Magog event was invented by Paul Salus as a theory and people have taken it to factual. This kind of speculation is dangerous.

Tony M So what you are saying is that if a country gets a new name that it's not the same people living there? I come from what was called Rhodesia, it's now called Zimbabwe, but the PEOPLE living there are still the same people. In the same way, the moabites are now Jordanians; Edom are the Palestinians (confirmed by the book of Obadiah), Ammon is also Jordan and Philistia is largely the Gaza strip, Tyre is Lebanon and Gebal/ Hagarenes are parts of Iraq. Assyria may well be ISIS. A different name for a country or geographical area does not disqualify Psalm 83 from alluding to a future war. And it's very interesting that none of these countries are listed attacking Israel in the Ezekiel event. Why? They are the most antagonistic of all people. Surely they would be listed in that "war".
