I'm working my way through the purification psalms (and alternating with the contractual psalms) but I think part of the problem I'm having is that I don't feel guilty. I'm sure I've made mistakes, but it's like when I make a typo or an arithmetic error (24-8=12; it's not true, but it has gone through my head too many times at work): I have a moment of embarrassment (if that) and then I fix it and move on. My friends and I sometimes joke that I'm a sociopath, but I don't think I am (if I were, I'd be better at manipulating people). Do I really need to be sifting through my memories and finding the little incidents where I said something nasty once upon a time?

I'm not sure I ever said you should sift through memories to find guilt that doesn't exist... if you don't feel any guilt then I wouldn't worry about it. BB

Ariel I noticed you assign Wands to fire and swords to air, which many tarot users do as per tradition. I’m part of a magical tradition that switches those correspondences around, designating air to wands and fire to sword. It’s been said that the universe speaks to practitioners in the language they’re most familiar with, which In my case would be the suit correspondences above. However I know there’s also power behind tradition/lore by way of repetition. Do you think I’d get better readings if I set aside the language of correspondence I’m familiar with, and followed the elemental associations you and many others go with? Or would you say that because I’m already one with a certain “current” it would be wise to just stick with what I’ve been using? Also, would it “muddy the waters” and distort the clarity of my readings to even try to experiment with the switch?

MM! You are commenting on a Psalm video, but I think you are asking about tarot suits? Magical implements and tarot suits don't always parallel each other. I teach a basic course in witchcraft called A Witch's Primer, and in that system, we use a fire blade as our athame, not an air blade. In tarot, for me, it's a bit different. If I'm using a Rider/Waite/Smith deck and/or clone I'll probably attribute it wands/fire because that's how they are illustrated; however, when I read pips in a Marseille deck, I don't assign the elements of magic to the suits; at least not for divination and readings. For me the pips are more thus: wands - work in the world/job/career/major projects cups - emotional/romantic/marital and/or spiritual life swords - conflicts both inner and outer pentacles - money/assets/body/physical manifestations
