Besides, we have already tripled the number of hours we spend on preparing and teaching online, and advising students individually if we need to, to keep them connected and engaged. We worked hard before, beyond the level of compensation we received, and we're working now with full commitment to our students no matter what our positions are, part time or full time. The proposed cuts are indeed an insult to educators and students, and evidence of supreme disregard. Right on, Barbara.

Great presentation. Thank you. Yes! No layoffs or cuts to adjunct budgets unless top administrators take a 15% cut in pay for 4 months first. Barbara, please add a plea for all faculty, part-time and well as full-time, to join the union, if they have not done so. At the College of Staten Island, 40% of adjunct instructors do not belong to the union. We will fight for them, no matter what. But we have more power if they join. If the unemployment rate will go up, so should CUNY enrollment. Where will all those people go, back to school to improve their chances for a better career. Career paths at CUNY need to be assessed and viable paths need to be implemented for our students such as in the heath care fields. Now more than ever we need more nurses, doctors, EMT, Paramedics, and numerous other health care fields. This should be our focus, not cuts to higher education.
