What other compilations should I make? Also just wanna point out that 3:44 might be the worst clock management moment in college football history. Edit: Just to clarify, yes the pass in the first clip was tipped. I’m not saying Aaron Murray made a bad play, I’m saying the receiver made a bad play by catching it. Obviously a lot of the plays in this series have been way worse in terms of stupidity, but considering the importance of the game that play still deserves to be in the video in my opinion.

10:51, there absolutely must be one of two rulings by the refs. Either delay of game on the defense, as they fell on the ball and caused the offense to be unable to execute another play. Whether the defense intentionally forced the clock to run is irrelevant, the fact they delayed the game is a penalty. And yes, this has been called previously, most commonly in hurry up situations where the defense holds the ball carrier after a tackle and doesn’t allow them to get back for the next play. The only other call is a fumble, in which case the clock still stops with change of possession. You can’t simply allow the defense to lay on the ball for nearly 10 seconds to end a game.

Yeah, you have to put time back on the clock. I wouldn't even call delay of game on the defense; that's simply inexcusable incompetence by the official in not blowing the whistle and stopping the clock to re-spot the ball when the defense didn't get off it. I hope that crew was fired.

Phat Phil and the recruiting media guy who got butt hurt because he was asked to leave a meeting, colluded with Kramer, who was the SEC commissioner and also a TN alum, to try and kill the Alabama program. The cheating happened, I believe. A Memphis TN booster I believe did try to give money to that D-lineman. But the convoluted means by which Phat Phil, Kramer and the recruiting guy tried to scheme up things, has a special place in this story. It's great that TN has it coming back their way.

2:13 - It's a tiny thing, but credit to LSU #6 for immediately recognizing the situation and applying a simple touch to down the play, then walking away.
@darron6143 жыл бұрын
It's college football though the defense doesn't have to touch the ball carrier for him to be down. If it was the NFL, then that would be true.
@FHL-Devils3 жыл бұрын
@@darron614 Not quite true. Yes, a player can 'down' themselves (give themselves up), but it's a discretionary referee call. There was literally nothing preventing that player from jumping up and continuing the play if he hadn't been downed, as that clearly wasn't the intent of the play. NFL has that as well, you see running backs who give themselves up rather than score in the last 2 minutes - they don't HAVE to be contacted down for the referee to stop the play.
@darron6143 жыл бұрын
@@FHL-Devils in college football if your knee touches the ground (or any body part other than your hands or feet) then you're down. This situation doesn't have anything to do with giving yourself up, the guy was laying down on the turf. He was down the split second his elbow hit the turf as he fell regardless of anything after that.
@FHL-Devils3 жыл бұрын
@@darron614 - You're right, I stand corrected. While I can understand it for safety reasons, it seems rather dumb to not allow - let's say a receiver - to make a sliding catch, or even a kneeling catch, and call him down without the ability to advance the ball further (as in the NFL). But the rule is very clear, and I apologize for my error.

The current trajectory of Georgia football could be entirely different if Georgia wins that 2012 SEC Championship. It would mean a likely national title over ND, and Mark Richt having an even longer lease on that job regardless of how the following seasons went. The biggest question mark is if a title would have improved recruiting anywhere close to the consistent level Kirby Smart has reached.
