RACE is an awesome album, in and of itself, and my personal favorite. That being said, I can see Brian's disdain for it. It was a major departure from everything Pseudo Echo had done up to that point, thus alienating a significant portion of their established audience, and perhaps there was a bit of a "jump on the bandwagon" feel to it. On top of that, Brian couldn't play the "blame the producer" card, since he was one of two producers. Still, I thought he really did shine on this record, as a singer, but even more so as a guitarist. With this record, he really did show what he could do with the guitar.

I had four pseudo Echo Albums from Autumnal Park to Teleporter, I definitely did NOT jump off the band wagon when Race came out, though it was quite a departure from previous albums, I attended live shows so I wasn't surprised by the new material when released, I made it to teleporter to find a song I loved from their live act, I hope I go to heaven, and JUST for that. No album since Teleporter, they got rid of Peirre and i got rid of them as a 'future music purchase' band, I don't like anything they've released since, except one singular song, Ultraviolet, and its not enough to make me buy an albums worth of music that compared to their old work, I think totally sucks.

I always thought Brian's guitar skills were so underrated. He could put up with the best of them . From Eric Clapton to Eddie Van Halen, he has that level of skill for a guy who made mostly synth music. I find it funny that they'd never put him in the top 100 greatest guitar players of time.

This is such a great song. Was so underrated at the time. Race is a great album too. They should have been huge in 88/89!

They tried to make a rock ' heavy metal direction, they failed, my guess they would rather forget this era.

@@MarkWhich they didn't fail mate...Still was a good album. Not many musicians can actually change their mindset. Was an awesome album. Your here commenting lol.

@MarkWhich I believed the dead giveaway was the key guitar. By 1988, the key guitar was starting to become an outdated instrument that it was becoming a parody itself. From 1983 to 86, they could have got away with it but in 88, it was on a declining factor in which a lot of AOR and including rock bands that was using keyboard was turning to more acoustic or heavier guitar. If they wanted to take that band to a more rock direction especially heavy metal, they should have got rid of that instrument.

@@philliplandry4139 Yes true. The "keytah" was very, very much of it's time & that time was 1983-1986.

Great tune and good album. Definitely a big shift towards AOR guitar bands at the end of the 80's and synth pop from previous years kinda died or got chewed up and canned by Stock Aiken and Waterman.

I dont knew they had a 3rd album, I only knew the first 2 wich the even the second I found conditionally in a music store... I like the first most, as the second is a bit like a reniew issue some things, but still great... This here seems be more 80s rock wich I like anyway.. But could be difficult to find that album....
