Pseudogout. Hit me at 59 in both thumbs. I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis. I am now 67 and just got diagnosed with pseudogout or CPPD. I was given prednisone 20mgs for 5 days. That helped and will be visiting a rheumatology Dr. next month. Thanks for the information.

I had an attack to my left knee joint that was very painful, just like gout. The last two times I thought I had gout... but... when first taking the prednisone dose for a 12 day taper there was not the immediate relief of pain. Also both times the prednisone was not working like it had when I had a gout attack. In that case my Rheumatologist said if I got to the end of the 12 day taper and prednisone still wasn't helping was to go to an "urgent care" clinic in the big system (not to her) for help, or to go to ER. I fasted for 3 days thinking I'd lower my uric acid level and conquer it and I did. Now the second time the prednisone didn't work and my regular doctor I happen to see, actually an Internist, said if prednisone didn't give me immediate relief and wasn't working then I didn't have gout I had arthritis, my osteoarthritis and he added that my uric acid level (a couple of weeks after the attack, was normal. As usual I'm left to try to figure things out on my own and "pseudo gout" arose out of my still puzzling over why a sudden attack. I never heard of arthritis "attacking". The unusual thing I did was eat one pound of beef liver in about 36 hours (mixed with hamburger) as part of my Carnivore Diet I've been on. Also I had hauled in a 2 wheeled suitcase about 100lbs of groceries over rough ice and slushy snow, a real workout, so maybe it was that. I think it was the liver must have elevated my calcium and causing pseudo gout thanks to Dr Berger's fine video on the subject. Can a person be a victim of both gout and pseudo gout? Even my blood lab showed all electrolytes were normal.

I had horrible knee pain could barely bend it magnesium cured it. Cheap magnesium oxide I took 4 pills twice a day at 400 mg a pill. It comes back and I start taking lots of magnesium and it goes a way. Just thought I would mention it for anyone that has knee pain and can't figure out the cure.

It definitely effects younger people, I have had it since my thirties. I have it only in both knees and both shoulders, and it was first noticed when I had knee surgery as the crystals fluoresce with light and can be seen in the scope. The ONLY thing I have found that helps is prednisone. But you can't take that but a few times. If anyone anywhere has any idea what else works by all means let me know. Thanks.

I don’t agree with all of your information. I’ve had diagnosed pseudogout for 20 years and am now only 55, so most definitely not always in 60s or older. It also most definitely lasts longer than 3 weeks!

Three 10mg a day per episode. My knee has been swollen since Saturday. Was able to use telehealth for prescription fill on Monday and now swelling is down. It's using a 2-3 day situation for me. Now I going to start taking K2D3 supplements because of the calcium build up in joints. Let's see results

Question: I have pseudoqout in both hips and it’s been going on for 5 months. I have to take both prescription and over the counter calcium because I’ve had to have both my thyroid and my parathyroid removed do to tumors. I do take magnesium to help break down the calcium but I truly believe this is what is causing this gout The prescription med that my RA doctor gave me made me sick after taking it every other day for a week so I discontinued it. Is there anything that I could take out or add to my diet that would help me with this. Signed excruciating pain in hips

What were you told about the magnesium. I just learned "Nicotinic" another name for niacin or B3 can make more URI crystals, my B12 vitamins has niacinamide in it. I am going to find just B12. When I was taking B12 shots they seem to help the pain. My wrists are all screwed from psuedogout, but no synovial test he just took an x-ray. They actually worsened after ACDF surgery which was suppose to help my hands. The neurologist was a liar and medicine professionals were neglectful

@@kopronko yeah I should have added at the end there...”IF they’d listen”. They would have had my fiancé leaving their office doing cartwheels with a clean bill of health if I did not read his labs and narrative stated on his CT report. Even after THAT, they STILL dismissed our concerns the radiologist listed. Now that we pushed for the testing that showed positive for CANCER.... they are NOW trying everything to avoid ordering a PET scan to see if the origin may be from somewhere else. That’s kind-of important to know. They don’t think so. After he gets his thyroid (the issue they finally responded to) removed, there is more fighting to do because we are not convinced thorough diagnostics were performed. All my patients and friends with similar cancers had way more prudent measures. Because I have medical knowledge & ask questions & make requests & recommendations (not because I’m trying to be a “know-it-all”, but because they dont DO what they are SUPPOSE to do based on basic nursing 101 textbook theory) After they became noticeably annoyed with me, I suddenly got booted from his online medical portal (which he authorized & requested me to manage), claiming “repeated attempted hacks”, which makes me worry that it is a matter of time before the medical industry completely withholds diagnostic reports from patients because incompetent, careless, or corrupt clinicians are getting called-out by patients & their families for being disinterested or dismissive of potentially serious conditions where response TIME is critical, but is considered either “too much work” or troublesome... dealing with resistant insurance companies. I recommend anyone younger than 60 y/o, maybe anyone AT ALL who suddenly gets shingles, try some way or SOMEHOW get checked for cancer because I know SO many people who got shingles and ended up finding out they had cancer a year or so down the road. I hear this so often that my brain automatically associates “shingles” with “underlying cancer.” I have to be very careful how I respond to anyone who tells me they just had shingles so that they pay close attention to their bodies and get their check ups often. I get it that it sounds over the top to order testing for cancer when they have no symptoms to go by except the fact a patient had shingles to even have a starting point, but they should all do a comprehensive interview & assessment with the patient especially if they are younger. I just know that everyone I LOVE will be informed & encouraged to pay close attention to their bodies and how they need to be advocates for themselves if they feel anything is going wonky because the average clinician in western medicine WILL dismiss anything & everything without hesitation otherwise and go on about their USUAL day with their USUAL patients with their FAMILIAR diagnoses and cookie cutter treatments. And sometimes even if we DO put pressure on these “professionals”, they take it as competition or power struggle and it gets ugly and WE become the bad guys just for pointing out the obvious. The medical industry use to take shingles as a warning sign but now say “the chances are so low, they don’t want to cause alarm” aka “the insurance companies won’t pay to be that proactive.” Some people actually think we are this “shining beacon” of progress the world aspires to emulate. What we call “developing countries” clown us because they even know our “health industry” is another extortion scam run by corporate illness-pushers.

Yet I eat/ eat fairly healthy drink water, and not that much; maybe 2 glasses a night? Not even everyday! Wine 🍷 makes it worse for me. I wear healthy shoes 👟 yet at this time I did wear 👠👠 I was out of the woods for about 10 years till Covid times! Last night I went swing dancing and now my foot is red swollen and inflammed! What could you suggest?? I went to Aquila doctor and he would not test me again he would not check and test if I had gout again?! Old guy and says he doesn’t do procedures anymore but he gave me orthopedic insoles that were $500
