This is the first full gameplay I've seen of planetside 1, this game was awesome. Now I'll feel like there are features missing in planetside 2, I wish they at least add the animation of enter/exit a vehicle and the "Hail" voice chat

That was one of my biggest annoyances with PS2, is the far more simplified, dumbed down game. Usually sequels try to add more features not less.

@xdragonx2046 @Atom-Fire I actually made this complaint about the lack of things things that added so much character and life to PS1, specifically mentioning vehicle enter/exit animations, on the old PS2 forums and the big boss himself replied to me saying that he agreed with what I was saying. Those forums got wiped, I think twice tbh. edit: I don't know how tagging works apparently

I think some of the developers were from the Tribes community or Tribes devs. I remember learning about Planetside through playing Tribes2. Another game I miss like hell. Baby gamers these days have no idea how much skill there was in public online PVP in those days.

Those were awesome times when base turrets could take out multiple aircraft or vehicles and were a force to be reckoned with. Now in ps2 a player can ignore you for about 10 seconds, notice you, and then without moving blow up your turret before you take em out, smh

I'm actually shocked how PS2 game mechanics are actually worse. Everything is too fast and my god are the hit boxes very gracious. Vehicle seemligly have no weight and are not affected by terrain in PS2. When I first fired up the game I laughed while in my first harasser combat.

ah, what I'd give to play the game on green latency.... I used to play a lot with 500ms++, I got to max CR and BR rank, I was so happy to get to Command Rank 5, when I got my backpack I was so happy... I was 18 years old im 31 now

That...that is fucking awesome, I WISH I could actually get the thing to work (I tired, did everything that was recommended, will probably try some other time) and I soooo wish I could have played PS1 becuase that's just...amazing. And just the small little details make it look so much cooler and friendlier then PS2, the getting in vehicle animations, the much more in depth looking voice commands, just all the little details.

Have you tried asking for help in the discord? Also yeah not to insult the devs of PS2 but it just doesn't have the character and details PS1 has, you are completely right about that.

@@Atom-Fire Nah..I didn't want to bother anyone with it honestly, though thank ya. And yeah, that's something I've been noticing the more I hear about PS1, and in some cases even PS2 in older versions, it seems like they took the MMORPGish element of PS1 that made it an MMOFPS and completely threw that out the window, then tried to take the FPS element of it and turn it into some super high paced competitive "skill" shooter like COD or Halo, something that has a tendency to breed a more toxic or at the very least more socially vicious community then something more slower paced, simple yet detailed. I mean I know the TTK in PS1 seems to be pretty high, and some of that slowness is bound to come from being an older game, but...I donno, I'm rambling.

Hard disagree. Seeing things like clumsy inventory switching, MAX units with third person cameras wallhugging corners, and infils shooting while cloaked.. a lot of things I'm glad we left behind. Planetside player from 2003 to 2024, and nostalgia ain't what it used to be. PS1 was amazing, but overall 2 is the better game. The gunplay was just... garbage, like morrowind, you might as well roll a dice.

That's something that is both a blessing and a curse. Planetside 1 is extremely unique. Nothing else quite like it, but that also means nothing else that can truly replace it.

so far by the looks of it Planetside 1 is better than planetside 2 in almost every way.. i don't even understand how planetside 1 died and PS2 ended up being the main game, PS2 is just copy paste CoD with a planetside skin, PS2 is a piece of shit that's unrecognizable when compared to the original game, I'm liking what I see almost immediately when looking at the gameplay of Planetside 1, the gunplay isn't ass, the gunfights don't last half a second, the gunfights actually last long enough for people to learn stuff from each experience in fight and see how to get better even when getting creamed by a good or high skill player, it's just over all a better experience by the looks of it, this is how PS2 should be but isn't, I'm so sick and tired of games trying to be like CoD with their shitty gunplay instantaneously short gunfights, just looking at older games like these is just a breath of fresh air, these are supposed to be scifi space soldiers in armor that actually protects them with shields to back them up, Planetside 1 does well to reflect that in the soldier durability but in planetside 2 you get slapped with a paper cut on your finger and your shields shatter and you become instantly crippled as and die shortly after from losing 0.0000000001% of your body's total blood content, like.. what? I'm just hoping that if planetside 3 is actually real and is a thing being worked on that it's just like Planetside 1 but better, but i can't hold my breath on that as it's more likely to be a garbage double down of planetside 2's trashiness but worse, cause we're still in the video game industry era of "every shooter has to be like CoD" and this Era doesn't seem like it's stopping yet, it's still going.. it feels like at this rate it will take 10-20 years more for this shit era for shooters to go away and be replaced with era filled with fun quality games again..
