This video was meant to be so many things. I had shot tons of raw footage to string together into a "Pro NC" memorial video...then, at the advice of others (and against every fiber of my professional training) I put the video up in as 'raw' of a format as possible. Very little editing. So years from now people can come back and go "hey that is what it was like!" without all the fake stories, flashie music videos, and the likes.
I apologize ahead of time for anyone expecting a well edited, thought out, produced piece. I present you, Planetside as raw as possible, in 1080.

Damn right. The shuttle animation alone is something PS2's developers found to be useless... I mean really? Its stuff like that that really helped pin home the feeling of being a part of something greater.

***** Dude as a PS1 vet, It was a blast back in days.The original Planetside was a much deeper game wrapped around a rather poor engine for FPS gameplay. Planetside 2 is superior visually, has better infantry gunplay, and has a superior aircraft flight model indeed but In all other regards PS1 was a superior game and most of Ps1 vets who tried PS2 already quit it. We just waiting PS1 be back on steam.

This game and WoW easily are the best MMOs from the era. Was a member of TR, name was Mordordid. Fairly certain I was the youngest of the consistent players back in the day 😅 miss the people I played with constantly, even though I wasn't super talkative, (probably because I was 8-10 years old at the time) so many memorable Summers were spent in this game

Hacking an inter-link with 5-6 other CR5s. 1 Scat-MAX w/extra ammo & rep juice, 2 adv medic nade-launchers, 2 jackhammer guys. Sitting there waiting for the elite outfits of the VS/TR to respond to their facility being hacked. Holding back a yellow alert with 3-4 people... Killing 12 MAX units as a VS zergfit MAX crashes the CC.... Sneaking into the CC as a cloaker during a red alert and recovering the facility. Sending a "HAHAHHAHA" /tell to the CR5 guarding the CC.... Having people from the other sides chase you around the caves, each of them dying as one of them finds you.... Using the caves to hack facilities they wouldn't expect.... Sneaking outside and calling down an orbital strike on a tower just as it is about to be over run... Best times playing any video game I've ever played. (And I've played a lot) The problem with Planetside 1 is that it didn't give opportunity for the average nub/idiot to win (the vast majority of people, unfortunately). It was pretty well dominated by people that could actually understand how to be good at the game. For those that don't know, PS1 was many times better than PS2. Shame it is gone.

They removed a lot from PS2 and also added a lot to PS2. With PS1 I found myself not fighting as much as PS2. The battles lately on PS2 have been really big. And it seems to happen every time I play now...Both games are really fun! Thanks for the video!

They destroyed the NC in planetside 2. The faction went from scifi rebels fighting against tyranny, to a bunch of scrapyard junkers paid off by corporate scumbags to rebel against TR. Big difference imo. I rolled TR on PS2 for this reason alone

I played almost exclusively on the Vanu Sovereignty, still do in fact, and know just how important a good outfit is. Without them the game is just an open world shooter, but with them it can be a blast!

One if not the best game i ever played, I made some real friends on PS1, friends i still chat to even today, clerc being a very good friend ( NC - Shadow Company ) I was NC = Daf ( Fight Club and Shadow Company ) I play PS2 but its just not the same as PS1, had something PS2 hasn't, ok the GFX isn't as good as PS2 but it was years ago PS1 came out, in fact i was there on May 20, 2003 signed up as Daf NC became a CR5 and lead one of my greatest battles against the odds with the TR, fantastic era of gameplay, a fantastic game, shame the dev's never bothered with the updates with it....PS1 will always have a space in my heart for the friends i made, NC, TR and VS

Random showed up in recommendations - my fav memory of this game was "AMS Hunting" runs my Outfit would do on Konreid. 2 or 3 folks flying point in Mossy looking for AMS signs. When one was found you would go max ALT and "roll in" lighting up the cloak bubble with the chain gun, then peel away as a dozen or more reavers were coming in behind you with missiles to just rain fire down on the area. It was always a sight to behold - as effective as an OS, but way more fun!

Love this! I miss my trusty Vanguard... best vehicle in the game! Without a gunner I would park and gun myself, hop out and repair. If I had a good gunner I could keep us alive and we could rack up kills for hours. I remember my brothers friend driving me once and I shot down my friend who HAD to play VS in his Mosquito, was fun as hell! I loved randomly meeting him out in the battle field, he was always a stealther. No armor, a Jackhammer + sprint = major nuisance in enemy buildings (before some updates). Thanks for playing original music, sounds great!

*This game was way more strategic than PS2.* *The irony is that today it actually looks more like a RTS than a MMOFPS.* Allot of static fronts, giant pushes, Outfits that acted more like football clubs, functional global chat, way more organized with coms only outfits and so on and since it was harder to move around you could have smaller teams do special operation and in return have similar teams do the same to counter them. You couldnt just "reDploy" to actually getting to the downed gen etc at a friendly base.

Wow. Boy does that bring back memories. The music ... I could almost smell 2003. I had multiple computers back then and 3 accounts - so I could fully man a Prowler. When I played NC - my first empire - I would put one in the Gen in a Max. Then I could drive a Vanguard with the keyboard from one computer and work the gun with the mouse from another one. My problem - was that I really, really cared. The DuhEV's kept fucking up the game and I kept getting pissed off and quitting. I played from 2003 to 2007 and was active in the Art of War forum. I used to go over to the test server with my 3 accounts and test how things really worked. I really loved that game. I'd play 4 hours a night when I got home from work - then 10 hours a day on weekends and holidays. What was funny was that my proficiency would drop off during the week but then pick up again after I got that first long day in. Thanks. The resolution here is just great. This is a video I downloaded off the Art of War Forum. Was this the original NC Theme Song, because some of the beats remind me of the beginning TR song when you saved your character, I can also see the NC phoenix looks very different, plus their weapons sounds like lasers (the small arms weapons)

Watching it on April 4th 2019 and, it does give me goosebumps, though I wouldn't say I'd rather play it instead of ps2. The reason I found it interesting, is just that I'm looking to that thing which managed to give us what we enjoy now. I thank this game for the idea, and for its achievements. PS forever!

Don would never know how to use the damn thing and blow himself up right in front of us!!! then sometimes we would lose the grenade!!! we would look everywhere, lockeroom, womens restroom, even the porter pottys!!! and sometimes the damn thing wouldnt even explode!!!
