Neymar was poor. Messi was bad but he at least progressed the ball further and had some feints and dribbles. Neymar went deep but never progressed the ball forward for attack and PSG's mid is in shambles. The defense was the only thing that worked in PSG. Bayern was playing exceptionally well and you simply come and criticize only Messi. Hakimi was invisible, Neymar was often intercepted, Soler was barely involved, and Marquinhos was lost. It was so painful to see Messi come deep to just get the ball. See how Messi played the WC and what his role was in Barcelona. Mbappe is the one saving PSG and linking well with Messi.

Why would you want your quickest player, running through the middle? Craig that's the most crowded part of the pitch. The whole problem comes from the fact that PSG have an invisible midfield. What do you expect messi and neymar to do in a team set up to defend? And especially the older versions of them? PSG should teach their mid fielders to pass the ball forward to forwards. The ball progressing is happening only when either messi or neymar coming back to their own half and show the way.
