Every time I hear a JCM800 I want one, the more I hear them the more I want one.

Get one man, I've got a super lead and a 2204 and the master is my baby, its smoother and more controlled plus they're loud but still manageable unlike the non masters

Had the same noise problem with a 2210: elevating the heater centertab to +40V DC let the amp accept any 12ax7 in V1 position....

Yeah, such a simple wonderful trick.

Any true DC voltage is AC ground… I know this but it’s kinda like the square root of negative 1 for me … One of the things I really like about Lyle’s approach is that he considers every alternative to fixing a problem. He’s never mentioned elevating the heater center tap “ground” to the best of my knowledge, but here it solves a problem.

Can it be the case with my 1981 100w JCM800 super bass (active eq)? Only a low noise ecc83S lowered the noise (what it seams to be a 60hz noise). I checked the board, components, grounds, solders, no matter what i have tried, the only thing to help was an ecc83S.

At least it’s 50 watts and not a hundred watts. Outside of band practice with a loud drummer, is there any utility to these monsters anymore?

Sounds great now though How much gain..? All of it

But I love the gain. Ah ah, ah ah, ahhh.

Why would NOT using a bypass capacitor cause more hum on the second gain stage amplifying the heater noise? I would think if you used a bypass capacitor which increases the gain stage would amplify the heater noise more. Correct me if I misunderstood what you were saying

Because it would smooth out any ripple on the cathode caused by it's proximity to the AC on the heaters for that particular cathode.
