I remember as of 1974 this movie still played in Mexican cinemas. Back then I heard a radio promo of Ship of the Monsters.

Have to respect the level of special-effects Mexico was able to design, create and produce one year before I was born. I did not even learn about this very cool film until the 2007.

actually most of the FX are stock footage from Russian & Japanese movies , they turn up in AIP Corman movies also

This is NOT an "enhanced" "wide screen" version. The frame has simply been chopped to fide the wide screen format.

There was considerable enhancements done to the original very poor quality, noisy, blurry, discolored original. Then a little was cut off the top & bottom, but also was strategically stretched to just the point you wouldn't notice. The fact that you didn't notice that it was also stretched, proved the enhancements were a good job.

@@feature-creature The best way to see how much a video is stretched is to look at round objects & see how oval they appear (lots of round objects in the beginning). The amount of stretch was so minimal, it's almost impossible to detect. But it was enough to minimalize cropping to bring it up to a modern aspect ratio.

My theory is that he was burned to ashes along with the other monsters in the cave due to the super flame thrower gun, but the film makers did not have enough money left to film it. Fun film. 😎

Widescreen, yes-this rip is racked improperly, though. Should be framed on the opening titles.
