I actually bought my PSP on a whim, I walked into GameStop with the intent of getting an Xbox 360, but I only had enough money for the console and nothing else. Instead I bought my PSP (1000), a case, 4 games (ModNation Racers, Patapon 2, The Simpsons Movie: The Game, and N+), and a Game Informer subscription all for $150. I have to say I think the PSP is the best handheld of all time, the games are great and really cheap. Seriously, just today I bought Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters, Wipeout Pure, Monster Hunter 2 Freedom, and Jeanee D'Arc for $17. There is no reason to not own a PSP.

You need to mod your PSP, It takes literally 5 minutes and it will make your life 100x better, there is no risk of breaking them anymore, they simplified the process so much.. Then you can play Nes, SNES, Genesis, GBA, Sega master system, GBC, plus more on it using emulators, plus you can get any PSP game for it free. The PSP also plays PS1 games if you use a program to convert the ISO to EBOOT format, it plays them flawlessly and it's such a joy.., all for free :)

Packed Punch Where can I find a good tutorial on how to do all that? The SNES and GBA emulation is a must for me but there's nothing else I'd love to do more than play Oddworld on my PSP! I just bought it; it's in the mail.

Its pretty simple actually, you just transfer a few files and it does the rest for you, there are tons of tutorials online if you need one

The Regginator Thanks for the reply. Is there a specific or best custom firmware to download...I'd imagine there are a few options. Do you have a preference? Also what program do you use to convert ps1 ISO's?

Jeremy V Check the forums on wololo.net. They have the latest info on CFW 6.60 Pro-C. There's no need to use any exploit to install it because they figured out how to sign homebrew applications as if they were from Sony. Use POPS Converter to convert ps1 isos and look up how to install the POPS plugins (the ps1 emulator on the PSP) needed in order to run them, but it's mostly transferring files.

It cant eulate ps1,its very simular to it so ps1 games can be transfered in a format so psp reads them as psp games,and you can emulate thos consoles on a ds too

TvSonic Serbia It IS emulation, and the DS doesn't have genesis or sega master system or the big one.. PS1, or the PC ports of doom, and Hexen, and the SNES emulator for the DS is worse than the one for the PSP.. The PSP can do so much more,but I don't have to time to list all the advantages.

Miller Hayden Yeah, I like how it has sort of a JRPG feel to it....but still a golf game. I was really super addicted to Mario Golf Advance on GBA cause you get exp and gain levels and such.

hated metal slug xx for one reason, they force you to play with infinite continues with no option to turn it off. what is so hard about adding in the option to play it as intended? there's no satisfaction in beating a game with unlimited lives, anyone can do it. that's why i just stick with the ds version, it doesn't have that unlimited continues crap.

I bought a psp simply for dissidia final fantasy! As a major final fantasy fan, its such a joy to see your fave heroes garner friendships that you wouldnt have imagined! And its fun seeing the villains interact with each other and even plot against one another and was just way too neat of a brawler! Never grows old still today for me!

The game that sold me was definitely Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep. The 3DS/DS Kingdom Hearts games have always lacked a bit for me, but the PSP version was just as good as the console versions. I actually bought the special edition with the silver PSP 3000. Not sure if you've ever played the Kingdom Hearts games, but they really are great.

When I first got the PSP they had been touting it as a Playstation you could take with you, with potential for Playstation games from the original console to be released on it, and I wasn't disappointed, they released the PS1 game support and all the games I had played on Playstation just as they said, even if some of the ones I was waiting for took awhile. That was why I decided I wanted to get the PSP when it was announced. But as more and more information came out, I also started liking the look of all the original titles for PSP. I was a Nintendo Fangirl by proxy, still am, but the puzzle games JRPGs were what drew me in the most because that is the bulk of the games I enjoy playing. I am now thinking of getting a PSP again and collecting for it, I miss having a Sony console around, I don't collect big consoles and I only have Nintendo Handhelds right now. And my Wonderswan (I'm a Japanophile, lol) I need more handheld consoles. I need a PSP and a Vita stat!

I got a PSPGo when it launched, I loved the games, the 16GB of storage, the portability and it was real fun to play with it. But eventually I got sick of the store, not because I don't like digital delivery but because there wasn't the entire PSP games library in there and it actually missed some great titles at that time. So I got a used PSP 3000 with Crisis Core and it was worth it all, what a gaming device!

I have bought in the middle of 2014 when I was looking around for new stuff on Amazon. Then I remembered how much I loved to play Star Wars Battlefront 2 at the psp of a friend of mine some years ago so I decided to get a psp for myself. My first games were Star Wars Battlefront Renegade/Elite/2, Motorstorm Arctic edge and Burnout Legends. Soon after watching Metal Jesus videos I have bought many new games, now I have about 70. I just got mine today, and here's why: 1.) I've been collecting for a while now and finally came across some PSP games (Killzone Liberation, Tekken and god of war... they were a dollar a piece) at a yard sale a couple weeks ago; only then did I realize I had never played a PSP game before. 2.) I found a great deal on a used one in FANTASTIC condition 3.) I traded stuff I had multiples of and wasn't doing anything with, so I didn't pay a dime and 4.) the guy threw in 5 games, a hard case, and a strategy guide for one of my DS games So all in all it just kinda fell into place. Haven't played yet, I'm at work now, but I'm excited to give it a shot!

Dissidia 012 made me get the PSP, I never have really put it down, I got a complete save file it to get all the items and now I'm playing it from scratch for the adventurous experience that I was supposed to have, with the fighting experience that I started out with from playing the quick matches so much.

I know this is a billion years old now...but to answer your question at the end... There wasn't any launch game in particular that specifically got me to purchase the psp...I was purchasing it (on launch day) just cause I was uber excited to have such a powerful gaming device that could produce such amazing (at the time) graphics. The fact that the device itself looked amazing also really pumped me up lol. I only had a few games for it for a long time...but they were all a lot of fun. Need for speed underground was actually a pretty decent game imho...as was hot shots golf. But the 2 games I owned that kept me playing very late into my nights were NBA Street (such a great game!) and Lumines. Oh man...I bought l Lumines on a complete whim. I just wanted another game for my new toy...but I've never been into puzzle games or games like tetris, so I was really iffy about the game. Then I played it. Then I kept playing it...eventually I got decent at it. That game was AMAZING. Lord only knows how many countless hours I spent on that game!

Killzone liberation and the tony hawk games, were both my reasons to save up for one. My dad helped me buy it early as a surprise and then had me pay him in incremental amounts for about a year to teach me about loans. I miss my dad so much, he’s been gone for about 14 years now. A good hidden gem for the PSP in my opinion is Black Rock Shooter: The game, based on the character and animated musical videoclip from the Japanese rock band Supercell, but with a totally different story setting in a sci-fi world. The game is an action RPG with very cool graphics, original gameplay, cool voice-acting (I have the japanese voiced version with english subs) and lots of extra contents and replay value.

The PSP was probably the only system I ever bought without really caring about what games were on it. What sold me on it were its hardware features. I was in a situation where I knew I'd be taking several 5 hour long bus trips to and from another city, and I knew I needed something to kill time. With the PSP, I figured it could play games, movies AND music, so whatever I was in the mood for, it would be helpful. So that was why I bought the PSP. I bought it with Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror and Daxter, picking those games out at random just because the descriptions on the back seemed good. It wasn't until after I decided to buy them that the store clerk told me they were probably the best PSP games out at that moment. But I love the system, and even now, my Vita is packed with PSP games that I still play, or intend on playing eventually.

I've just recently started watching your videos and can say I've been addicted. I wanted to mention some PSP games for you starting with one of my favorites Castlevania (The Dracula X Chronicles) Next would be Kingdom of Paradise, a pretty good rpg/action game. And a couple of platformers, Dead Head Fred and Death JR. Keep up the good work and if you don't have these titles, they're definitely worth having.

there's a lot of amazing rpgs for it. i just recently played trails in the sky 1 and 2 on ppsspp on my phone, and they may be the best turn based rpgs i've ever played in my life. then there's another 2 games in the series with all new locations and characters that are equally good. it's crazy to me that a handheld rpg from that many years ago can be so huge and immersive. they took me about 100 hours per game trying to do all of the side quests and other side content in the game. also the battle system is perfect and there are harder difficulties for those who enjoy a challenge.

My first game was Wipeout Pure, and when I got my PSP in 2005, I couldn't believe my eyes. Of course I got Pulse years later. Some days ago I bought Gradius Collection, Jeanne D'Arc, Grand Theft Auto Chinatown Wars, Metal Gear Acid 2 and Ultimate Ghosts'n'Goblins. I can't be happier with my PSP and I plan to buy a lot more games soon. It's a great time to start collecting for that console.

Gitaroo Man Lives, best music rhythm game out there. No other music rhythm game I have found that changes up the music and the button segments like it does. The songs aren't always played the same way each play through.

What made me get a PSP? I was working for a cable company and went to this guys apartment to install T.V. for him and he had his PSP laying around. I asked him to give me a little demo and he obliged by showing me Wipeout Pure. My jaw hit the floor. Then he popped in the first Spiderman movie and I was sold. Went out and bought one the next day. Been a huge fan since.

I got the PSP because I've been a handheld gamer since the GBA. I had recently made the switch to Sony at the time with the PS2 and loved it so much I got the PSP. One of the first games I got for it was Me and my Katamari and I loved it. Now I'm trying to go back and find all the hidden gems for the system.

Mercury was the main reason i bought a psp and it is still my favorite psp game. Such a good and unique puzzle game.

I bought my original PSP for Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII, I played that game for 2 days straight and loved it! I wound up selling my PSP and regretting it, picked one up again about a year later. Now I have about 40 games, a great system for RPGs!

I just picked up Gitaroo Man Lives! at a pawn shop, they were selling it for $15 mexican pesos (about just $1 dollar), i didn't know what i was picking but when i first played it i just loved it, i think its one of the better purchases i've done, it was a surprise to see it in your list too, it's defenitely a hidden gem.

I bought the PSP for the first time out of curiosity, because it was really popular at the time. Years ago I sold it, because I didn't have time for it. Recently I just bought a white psp 2000, so I could collect and play the system's JRPGs.

For me it was final fantasy tactics ogre tactics. Now ogre is now around the 150-200 dollar cad mark on ps1, this is a great way to get it for a reasonable price. Its a tough sell to buy a psp right now as the switch is so fantastic, but theres something about sony that scratches an itch for me!

As for me I just love the speed fighting from final fantasy dissidia trade that in for the dissidia 012 and still playing it. Them two are one-and-the-same-games

Best portable I've ever owned, n I had a vita...,just the idea of portable ps2 sold me, n the variety and sheer volume of titles is unparalleled..

the game that made me hooked on buying a psp is daxter. my neighbor played that game and i was just blown away by the graphics and the gameplay back then. your channel rocks btw.

Just picked up a PSP 1001 a few days ago for less than $10. Had the battery, a memory stick and someone's copy of Assassin's Creed Bloodlines in it. Wouldn't come on, but it just needed a charger. Looks like the only faults are maybe a loose power jack and the thumb button cap is gone, but it's in great shape. So, I'm looking for games and these vids are a big help!

Ah, PSP.... I bought a PSP-3000 with my first salary. It was such a lovely handheld. I'm a fan of Ys series, so I had to get it because Ys Seven was exclusive for PSP. Ys, Project Diva, and Dissidia are what sold me on the system :)

Jeane D'arc sold me on the psp, also the seemingly endless supply of new and original jrpgs. This video forced me to broaden my horizons and try some other games. Love Pursuit Force.

Ratchet and Clank Size Matters was enough to buy the PSP. I love that franchise. Secret Agent Clank, Jak and Daxter the Lost Frontier, Daxter, Resistance and the two God of War exclusives were icing on the cake. Love the PSP and still haven't finished getting games for it. It's almost as underrated as the PS Vita which is a shame.

Not exactly at launch but Valkyrie Profile Lenneth as the original on the Playstation is one of my all-time favorite games and the PSP port's added features on top of gaming on the go made it all the sweeter. Had to have a PSP at that point.

I bought mine back in 2007 along with FF Tactics WotL and GTA LCS; my favorite game with a kick-ass translation, and GTA on-the-go. To this day I'm still adding to my library of PSP games, and I'd consider it my favorite handheld. Thanks for the vids MJ.

I'd add to your list "Dead Head Fred", it's a great, original, fun, black humor, nice VA, plataforming game. In my case is my favorite game for PSP and i think it's also a hidden gem.

I had a hunch that just like the first 2 PlayStations, their portable would become a haven for retro collections. Although I picked one up early on for Darkstalkers, Mega Man: Powered Up, and Lumines.

I got the original PSP at launch because I knew big budget games that you would only see on consoles like Twisted Metal would be made for a handheld. I was soo glad to see games like Grand Theft Auto and Gran Turismo come to the PSP.

I bought the PSP under the presumption that it was a failed console, a bit as the Wii U is nowadays. However almost immediately the PSP market was flooded with tons and tons of great games and today, six years later, my PSP collection is my second largest one, behind only the Xbox 360. My personal favorites includes Project Diva, Gran Turismo, Lunar Silver Star Harmony, SOCOM, Disgaea, and so many others... I glad to have the PSP. It is a great console. BTW, Pangya is a wonderful game. A true hidden gem.

I was a huge Ratchet and Clank fan on the PS2, I just had to get the new Size Matters game when I heard it was coming out on the PSP. That and Star Wars Battlefront 2 really sealed the deal for me when I picked up my PSP in May or June of 2007

Chilli Con Carnage was amazing, I finished it 10 + times the moves you can do are matrix like, wall running slow mo, combo shots its amazing.

To answer the question from the end of the video, I pre-ordered the PSP after reading a Game Informer preview of the original Untold Legends. The idea of a portable Diablo with 3D graphics and randomly generated dungeons was too awesome to ignore. Unfortunately the original game didn't quite live up to my expectations but it was still pretty fun, and I ended up really enjoying other launch titles like Lumines and Wipeout Pure.

My original one died maybe a couple months ago, but I found a copy of Breath of Fire 3 at Magfest. I found a new PSP within a couple days of returning home and now looking up other fun stuff to play and rekindle my love with Sony

Kelsey Sexton Breath of Fire 3 was great. I was kind of hooked on the fishing game for it as well. Great stuff - even though I still never beat the main game yet.

The game that got me to buy a PSP was "Twisted Metal: Head On". Had that game not come out, I would have bought a PSP the following year for the "SEGA Genesis Collection". The SONY PSP was a great gaming console, no question about it. The fact that all the games ( and most UMD movies ) were region-free was an added bonus. The 2000 & 3000 models could plug into your TV. If you broke the screen on the PSP itself, you still had another option to keep using the console. lol

The LocoRoco and Patapon games were the attraction for me and then I saw what else was on it and... Love the PSP.
