Hi everyone! I know there’s been a lot of crazy PlayStation news going on these past few days, and we’ll definitely discuss everything this Friday but for now I finally have another documentary for you all. Hope you enjoy it! I still have my launch PSP-1000 and doing this video has really made me want to start collecting more for it, so dead serious question what are some of your favorite games and what should I try and pick up? And thank you all so much for the support recently. You guys are the wind beneath my wings.

This device was capable of wifi, internet browsing, taking pictures, gps, running a boatload of custom homebrew software (before anyone knew what "apps" were), playing music, watching both legit and pirated movies, and even being a TV remote. It had amazing graphics and a massive screen for the time. And it cost about half of what the original iPhone cost three years before it came out. It's so sad that Sony's locked down stock software never fully allowed people to unlock its full potential.
@marcomolinari94

well, we also have to say that it did most of these things... badly :( ok, PS Vita was even worse (compared to other devices of that era)...i mean, in 2011 there was iPhone 4s and -more importantly- Samsung Galaxy S2 available in the world market; S2 was already decent in "3D gaming" (for the 2011 standard) and did everything else (GPS, web browsing, photos etc) much much better than PS Vita*, making the existance of the second Playstation Portable completely useless (smartphone gaming started in those years); PSP was like PS Vita in terms of non-gaming-features (quantity, not quality), but it was just lucky that smartphones were still unripe/premature in 2004-2008 *fun fact: Vita in italian means LIFE. it's funny to rename that way a console that was early considered dead :(

This made me in tears. PSP is really the Walkman of 21st century. I remember the time I had my PSP and it was ethereal. It's been years and I still have my PSP working. For me it will be the best portable console ever. You can do everything on your PSP. Listen to music, watch movies, play games, Internet browsing, photo gallery etc. Too bad PS Vita was underwhelming. I do have PS vita but I'm still playing my PSP

Less things to push & move on a controller the better. Never liked controllers after the 16 bit era ended. In the arcades, everything was straight, joystick in the middle, 3 buttons to the right of it, or similiar layouts like that, now you got 2 sticks, buttons here, there, on top, underneath, to the side, wTF!

I actually got my PSP for free on release due to a contest held by the then official Playstation magazine in my country lmao. I had to run around this avenue in my city looking for 5 hidden magazine journalists and collecting their signatures. The first five people to find them all would win the console, and I was the fifth. I was so happy! In retrospect it's remarkable how powerful the PSP was for its time. Those were the times man.. I had so much fun with it.

Argonxx12 1 I hacked my first PSP in 2007. So clearly not in the latter stages of its life. Piracy was rampant by 2008, and most people I knew that had PSPs had stopped buying games by 2008 and had hacked PSPs running OE and shortly after, M33 firmwares. Hell, I knew people that hadnt had a portable since the Game Boy and they bought it because it was that simple to hack them and get free games. That's where half the units sold came from in my opinion. People buying to hack and get free games.

Sure, everything can't be in the spotlight forever, or on TV, but people will be sure to keep a community going for older media and tech. Also, the last PSP game released was in 2016. @@thanos2399 yeah but mostly the Vita killed itself with games being bad ports or copies of existing PS3 games and here Is an example: Ridge Racer PSP, 2004: it's great, 60FPS at all time, graphics look really nice, menu songs and Menus in general are nice to look at, it's the perfect PSP launch title (also Ridge Racer 2 since it's the exact same game with a few more tracks and Cars and songs) Ridge Racer PS Vita, 2011: not great, graphics look downgraded from Ridge Racer 7 on the PS3, and there was so Little content locked behind DLCs. This Is not EA, its Namco, and for some reason they renamed some Cars (Soldat Raggio now known as Soldat Rauna) for some reason, and again, very Little content Also the PSP had almost perfect ports of PS2 games, Colin McRae Rally 2005, Midnight Club 3, ecc. Yeah some games might not run at a consistent 30/60FPS (especially CMR2005 and MC3 I mentioned) but they were still playable and fun to look at, they were basically PS2 games on the go, Nintendo took more than 10 years (literally) to make a portable device play SNES games. The PSP did It right at the start of it's Life And the Vita could have done the same, if It wasn't killed by low support, terrible games and nobody caring

The only fault with Nintendo and even know a days they still don’t know how big of impact online gaming is like with the Switch without proper voice chat and dedicated servers like OG Xbox and PS2 had back in the day. I got my psp 12 years ago, and its still working. Who would have thought I would still have it in my college years, a game console I got from my 8th birthday, and still have it and play with it in my 20s. Once a psp gamer, always a psp gamer

They killed the portable line when they released the Go. - More expensive - Couldn't use your SD Card - Couldn't use your UMD's - AND IT STILL DIDN'T HAVE A 2ND ANALOG STICK
@Petar321_GT
@Petar321_GT 5 жыл бұрын
Why would they put the second analog stick if there wasnt one on the previous models? PSP is PSP, it has to have same buttons because of game compatibility. If they put that second analog on the GO and released games that would take advantages of it, older PSP models wouldn't be compatible with those games. Imagine having to buy a new PSP again just to play a new game that isn't supported because your PSP doesn't have a second analog! All PSP's must be the same (same gameplay buttons/sticks)
@120DudeSome
@120DudeSome 5 жыл бұрын
@@Petar321_GTExactly. It would have been a new system at that point just like the Vita eventually was. Backwards compatibility would still work because you're adding hardware.
@Petar321_GT
@Petar321_GT 5 жыл бұрын
@@120DudeSome Thats a good point, but not what i meant. Games that would requiere a second analog wouldn't work on older PSP's. That would be a serious deal. As i said, all games must be compatible with all PSP models.

PSP as a console has a special place in my heart. Back when I was about to turn 11, I was thinking of purchasing a smartphone (since everyone had them) but then I saw a PSP and said to myself: "Oh my, I have to get this!" And so it was: I got PSP alongside NFS Most Wanted and I loved it a lot! Over time, I started saving money for PSP games and got games such as GTA Vice City Stories, Gran Turismo, Ridge Racer and Burnout Legends. Now it's in possession of my elder brother.

The best thing Playstation has ever dropped, it had the chance to capitalize on the handheld devices industry, the vita was supposed to be even great, still have memories of playing medal of honor, need for speed most wanted, resistance retribution, metal gear solid peace walker, spike, and twisted metal. I'm proud to call the psp my first ever handheld console and my favorite console in history.

The PSP was such a huge part of my childhood! I must have got it in 06 or 07 . Man it was so exciting! I took it everywhere. I don't know how many hours i played on it but it must have been in the thousands. I remember waking up in the morning and playing Fifa 10 Career mode. KIds by MGMT playing in the menus. Man, those were the days... Miss those times. Then i got the pandora battery and i made that Magic memory stick. Now I could download every game for free on the internet. I see where the demise of this devise can be attributed to. For me it wasnt a failrue tho. Like i said, it was a huge part of my childhood. Very fond memories. Thank you sony!!!!!
