The horses in video have very clear symptoms- the most difficult cases have very subtle symptoms. And what’s worse is the symptoms may not show up when vet shows up- on and off lameness, just not using their back end correctly. It took me forever to figure out what was happening and vet was no help.

I've heard of Monday Morning Disease. Never seen it. Hadn't realised how it can resemble colic. Interesting video. So useful to actually see what you are describing. But sad to watch. Poor Horseys want their carers to figure the problem pronto and manage them accordingly. Thank-you.

Its important for these horses to not be overworked. They need a ton of breaks in between work to bring their heart rate down before you continue.

Today my horse had either a colic or a tying up episode, I am really not sure wich it was. The results for the pssm2 test aren't back yet. My vet suggested testing for pssm2.

Why banamine is always a great medication to give
@PSSMAwareness2 жыл бұрын
Yes and methocarbamol (robaxin) either of these are usually given to horses by a vet during a tying up episode

Isn't it a build up of lactic acid also?
@PSSMAwareness2 жыл бұрын
Yes so tying up leads to a build up of lactic acid, muscle cell death and lack of muscle oxygenation

We will be making a video on this at a later stage but we go into this in a bit more detail in our blog over at www.pssmawareness.com
