I went open baffle in 2013 - and no turning back. Now i'm on my version 2.0 of my design which is an WMTMW with 2x15", 2x10" and compression driver/waveguide. Its running on a 7wpc tube right now and all is passively crossed over.

very nice work ...and you got the tweeters right .when you get the dipole tweeter you will finf out this setup is better....i did.....but i realy wonder do the distence from the wall makes such a difference? bc i found 1.5 ft from the wall was not so different from 3 ft .and also why are the mid and the woofer and the tweeter are not closer///isnt it problematic with the acoustic center?and another thing if i was you i would use a diffuser on the back not absorver////bc in my opinion you do want the reflected sound from the back wall just scaterd.please tell me i would love to learn from your expiriance.thx

Found this video looking for something on open baffle in cars. I have two situations where enclosures aren't an option due to space. One is a sub within the spare wheel, the wheel not the well, and the other is some 6.5" in the back of the camper facing the bench seat. I don't think either location can accommodate a large enough enclosure to produce the bass output needed from each so i'm considering open baffle.

If you can get 3 feet around them, they'll image better than any box. You won't have as many nulls and peaks in the bass response. And an open baffle mid range doesn't really matter. You can box that if you so choose.

Why not ditch the tweeters, go for Hybrid wide bands to do the top end? Great set up BTW!
@pssound97494 жыл бұрын
TransmissionLineDesigns because that top-end is never gonna be as good with a wideband and now i may open a can of worms with this, but heyhoo, let’s do it! I’ve had enough widebands in my life, still use them in different scenarios, many car projects, BUT this is not one of those!

@@pssound9749 The tweeterless system - Scott opened that can a long time ago. kzbin.info/www/bejne/b2GoaGqOqdaGm7c Scott stands firmly behind his products, and his wide-banders are more than capable ... our hearing isn't. At the end of the day none of us hear via graphs or sophisticated measuring equipment. We actually hear via our ears! It's not really a debate as a point of fact. Unfortunately too many people listen to a system with their eyes, and seem to be heavily influenced by brand names and other prejudices. We can say that we're not influenced by such superfluous parameters, but I think they intervene all too often. I should add that I also run a pair of full range Mark Audio's in my home system. I like to keep things simple. Would have been cool to have an all HAT set up, Clarus 15 doing the low stuff, Clarus or Legatia doing the rest of the work. *Mind you, the AE's aren't to be sniffed at.* With all that said, *you seem to be one of very few, that produces quality installations.* I'll be honest, if I ever needed some work done, I'd be knocking on your door. Too many charlatans out there willing to take people's money for little to nothing in return .... of which I've experienced a couple of times. You obviously buck the trend and I love the quality of work you do. All the best Lovin' your stuff

Each one of those trophies behind the speakers if made of metal will have a designated pitch that will resonate too and that in turn will introduce harmonics and buzzes if you play your music loud enough. You seriously need to find somewhere else to put them. If you don't believe me think of a glass harp ( not sure, look it up ) by starting the vibration it will just ring out .

Very nice job Peter. One thing stuck one my mind. Is the Helix processor you use in the Honda better then the Zapco in the home audio setup? You normally use as amplifiers mostly Zapco instead off Helix. What’s the reason actually?
@pssound97494 жыл бұрын
Umıt Bozkır i have the same Zapco DSP in the car too! 😉😃 I’m not saying Helix alternatives are not great, but Zapco is better value in my eyes, plus after the latest experience with the full Brax setup, i feel even better with my Zapco choice.

@@pssound9749 very interesting to see! ive always been fascinated with the bridge between car and home audio.. and pro audio i guess! I guess the zapco is the preamp and dac. how would this sound compared to a chord DAC such as the new qutest? Ive only done preliminary tests but pound for pound, ive found a good car amp dsp running from 12 battery bank is cleaner than the equivalent priced hifi. Perhaps the lack of AC noise has something to do with it? oh shit.. what can of worms have i opened up!!??
@pssound97494 жыл бұрын
levrone007 i have a feeling that you’ll hardly be able to find anyone who can give you any feedback on home- & caraudio DSP comparison. One thing is sure: car audio DSPs are very capable as they are designed for very fine accuracy when it comes to tuning as you sit in a nearfield environment in the car less than a meter away from the speakers, so even a fraction of a ms on TA or a single Hz on Xover & EQ settings count more as such.
@levrone00754 жыл бұрын
@@pssound9749 I think its important that comparisons are made pound for pound. My series 3 genesis powered with a battery bank is significantly better than an equivalent price Hifi amp. Perhaps the dc power has something to do with it. Considering the zapco is a player, preamp, DSP and active crossover all in one is insane!! Would love to put the Chord Qutest DAC up against the zapco. Yes in a car the zapco will be king.. a 2 channel passive wont stand a chance without TA but in a room i think it would be a nice experiment!

Efficiency vs accuracy and natural tonality. You can’t have it all, but if you check the follow up videos, you’ll see that there’s a pair 15”s as subs added to it, which make the system complete.
