Ridge racer is easily one of the cleanest looking games in the list, everything else seems so blocky in comparison to the smoothness of that game :o Also I'd have expected silent hill to be in the list, but I guess that graphical style is an aquired taste

I would have included Omega Boost, Einhander, Jersey Devil and Silent Hill. What is really surprising about Alien Resurrection is not the graphics but the controls. Using the right analog stick to look around is a very rare things for that era. If the field of view was larger and the draw distance was better it would seriously make that game still very playable today.

I can't really agree about Driver 2. It looks okay in screenshots and still pictures, but in motion, it's quite bad both visually and technically: slow, blocky, with small visibility area and persistent pop up. I know it's because the limitations of our grey friend, but calling it "best looking"...just doesn't seems right to me.

That game its pushing the CPU to its absolute limits, and was running on the less powerful console of the three (PSX/Saturn/N64). An open world 3D driving game on that outdated console was impressive, even if the GPU wasn't an important thing on Driver 2.

nice list, tekken 3 is one of those games i still go back to. and i remember buying driver when it first came out, it blew me away. GTA had just come out around the same time, and it was awesome, and then driver came out, and whilst it didnt come close to as open as gta, the full 3d cities were awesome, that and the driving mechanics were top notch, loved that game. ive never heard of urban chaos but it looks pretty cool. Metal gear solid was, and still is, a great game to play. but seriously, no silent hill? what the frick? that game rocked back in the day. and while not strictly 3d, fear effectlooked great. and resident evil 2 looked cool aswell. but still, nice list.

PSX could barely handle a 3D open world game. Saturn had more powerful hardware and it was going to receive Shenmue, which was far beyond anything 3D on the PSX.

1:59 that painting textures look kinda impressive for a full 3D '98 Psx game. There are many early (and sadly even quite later) Ps2 games not on par with that quality (besides the doubled screen resolution, obviously). Soul Reaver graphics were stunning back in the day and they are still noticeable as design and colors juxtaposition, the Zephon section in the video is just one of the best looking in the game. Crystal Dynamics always knew how to squeeze Sony consoles to their limits. I wouldn't have placed GT2 on top. RRT4 looks better imho. Driver 2 has good graphics and style, but there's really too much pop up and the framerate is often dreadful, therefore eventually the game looks lame in motion.

Yap....Second the AI part... Love the way they tend to blow up the Arizona gas stations each time you try to refuel. Plus we found this cool glitch we call The Ghost of Obake... While using Obake if she gets killed by (Houston for example) while executin her special, she's out of the game but that bright flash remains on screen and instantly kills any one who touches it. Was so cool...

Silent bomber is really nice, but I think it is more of a tecnological feat. game rather than a game with amazing graphics. So much shit going on at the same time, explosions, enemies, you name it, that engine was amazing, but I think it is more a 8/10 in graphics than 9 or 10, like most of these games.

All too funny to think that a racer like Gran Turismo 2 would have made such a stir back in the late 90s/early 2000s because ever since, most of the way into PS3 lifespan we saw just more shiny and shiny and no real noticeable innovation being done unlike back at the turn of the century. If you honestly think that any of these games look better than Spyro 3 you are simply blind. Don't even start on MGS, Vagrant Story and Legacy of Kain they are all too the same. MGS is mostly grey and blue, Vagrant Story is mostly shades of brown and legacy of Kain doesn't look good at all mostly dark corridors. Spyro 3 is the best looking ps1 game. Crash 3 is #2 and of course CTR

Zane Capps Most of the games shown in the video are from an emulator version... With high resolution and everything the game looks completely different. Spyro on emulator still appears like a magnificent game, even today. Urban Chaos in the video is also taken from an emulator. Pretty obvious, as the resolution seems way more high than a psone is actually able to display.
