Mega Man 8, known as Rockman 8: Metal Heroes in Japan, is a video game released by Capcom. It is the eighth installment
in original Mega Man series, and was originally released in Japan on the Sony PlayStation on December 17, 1996. The following year,
Mega Man 8 saw a release on the Sega Saturn and was localized for both consoles in North America and the PlayStation in PAL regions.
Upon its release, Capcom reached the franchise's tenth anniversary. Mega Man 8 is the first game in the series made available on
32-bit consoles.
The plot begins as the robotic hero Mega Man is called to investigate a mysterious energy reading coming from a recent meteor crash on
an island. Mega Man discovers that his arch nemesis Dr. Wily has beaten him there and immediately retreats with the energy source.
Mega Man is charged with stopping Wily's evil plans to use the energy, as well as discover the purpose of a mysterious, alien robot
found at the crashsite. -

This was actually one of my first megaman games, and I think it's decent. My only real problem with it was the slow control Megaman had. It felt sooo different from every other game in the series. Its general level design was good, some of the weapons were good, nothing out of the ordinary really. MM8 also looks and sounds great. Listen, the voice acting...It was a new thing at the time, I'm willing to cut them a little slack. So yeah. Megaman 8 was fine.

For me Mega Man 8 was too easy -- especially when I was doing my Mega Man marathon and had battled through MM 1 - 7. But I don't think that makes it bad. I still like this game. And that intro is awesome. ~Razzle

Megaman 8 is the very first megaman game I ever played. I remember when I came over to my friends house, and he was like look at what my dad got and popped it in. Never realizing how much i'd fall in love with a game franchise I beat all megaman, megaman x, and megaman zero games numerous times. Megaman will be forever my favorite gaming franchise. Final fantasy comes second in line for favorite franchises. Then Pokemon. and then....and then....and then.... O_O

It doesn't just sound older; in fact, the team behind Mega Man 8 wanted Roll to be older than every older game. Of course, this was reverted back as soon as Mega Man 9 was released. And, to me anyways, I am more accustomed to hear Mega Man with a much lower pitch on his voice (much like he does in games like Powered Up or 11).

The Marvel Vs. Capcom games were the first to actually revert Roll to be as shorter and more younger after 8. They kept her outfit/design for the most part, though.

***** , i was simply stating that as is the case with most dubs of japanese films/anime/whatever, and this extends to pretty much every fim and tv show there is : it's usually way fucking better with the original voice acting / voice recordings, cause you get the emotion and feel that was intended, whereas 95% of the dubbed translations i have watched in my life are always pretty horrendous. ;)

It always blows my mind, that Wily keeps being able to buy new castles. I read about the one he had in megaman 2, if it were a hypothetical real estate deal. It cost a quarter billion, roughly. Dude's got mad loot. Now he has one, in the middle east. The castle in this game, was sort of lame compared to previous ones. He needs to step up his game again.

Are people just looking for reasons to dislike this game? 8 is an AMAZING entry! I remember playing this and X4 back in the day for hours back in the PS1 days when I was 9 haha. Incredible graphics, amazing music, proper difficulty, and rewarding anime cut scenes. Sure the voice acting sucked but if that had ever really been a problem for American audiences, no American would watch anime....EVER.

The graphics were great. But I think the game belongs more to 8-bit, megaman feels more like megaman. And it seems like I'm not the only one who thinks that, since the series went retro with 9 & 10 and I love it. edit 24.12.2017: 8 is good as it is. I don’t see any problem with his in game voice, but I don’t like it in the cutscenes. And Megaman is probably based on a 10 year old boy, you can’t expect him to sound like a man, I also read complaints about the bosses voice acting, they are missing the point, the game targets a young audience, it has a light hearted nature, if you want something darker and more adult, play the X series
