If I'm not incorrect, Tekken was the first Virtua Fighter clone and they did a great job with some of the changes. They added CG movies, 4 attack buttons, infinite tatamis, unblockable super-moves, larger combos, unlockable sub-bosses, chainable throws and special moves for standing up from the floor.
This is a very simple walkthrough with Nina. The recording quality was good (at last!) since Vysethedetermined2 (you should check his youtube channel if you are interested in obscure games) generously helped a complete stranger like me with Virtualdub's complexities. [I still have some videos with just decent recordings to publish, thought ^^U] -

It never occurred to me before, but the Tekken 1 backgrounds actually have several layers of scrolling, whereas Tekken 2's are simply flat bitmapped images.

I remember playin this game in the local bowling ally back when I was a kid in the arcade room. Sure does bring back some memorys, This game was sold out everywhere and back ordered for months when it was first released on the Playstation. Good times good times =)

Tekken 2 still holds up to this day but this one feels so primitive, it's almost unplayable. Which is surprising because there's only 8 months between their release. It's almost as if Tekken 2 was going to be the first game but they released its beta as a full game so it became the sequel.

+Ongansan Tekken 1 was basically the first full 3D fighting game after Virtua Fighter with textures, and the PSX port was straightfoward (Lack of modes) but accurate since the PSX hardware was similar to what they used for the arcade version. But yeah, Tekken 2 was much better.

I found this game quite easy to pick up and play actually even after playing almost all the games that came out after it. I certainly don't find it "unplayable" or definitely not "terrible" either for that matter

Idk why but every song for each level was a banger. Except for the boss level. They are so nostalgic they bring tears to my eyes.

cuddle Withme Nope. You can save only the progress. The game itself is way too big for a memory card.

cuddle Withme You can say that, but actually it's not true. It saves the progress data that makes PS1 know what characters have to be unlocked. No models/textures/voices/sounds on Memory Card. Only the progress.

cuddle Withme Yes, you can. All models, textures, sounds (files) are on the CD. Memory Card exist only for saving the progress. If you have unlocked Heihachi Mishima, save it, and then load, of course you can select him.

cuddle Withme You have to go back to the main menu. Go to "TEST MODE". Then you must find something like "MEMORY CARD". Here you can save and load data.

I still have this game and in my opinion it's a pretty good fighting game. controls are nice, it's fun to play, fighters are interesting & well done. It even looks nice as an early PS1 game. Only bad thing in this game is that it doesn't have a training mode, where you would see & practice all fighter's moves. Thanks Deskawa for playing this classic game.

Why didn't you play as Kazuya, he's the (canonical) champion, and if you're doing Longplays on Tekken's 2-6, use Heihachi for Tekken 2, Jin for Tekkens 3-5, and Lars for Tekken 6, through Senario Campaign, please?

back in the day when kicks can take away half of your health bar and heihachi is near invincible for kids. That and the characters in the roster screen scarred the hell out of most kids for some reason. XD
