I'm here because I just heard a very witty, quick, articulate, & candid fellow by this name interviewed on CBC's The Current. "tranquilized by triviality" , caught my attention. Watching this, I wonder if it's the same guy. This guy's stoned. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Input accepted.

I would suggest: (1) Sexual excitement arises at the moment of separation/perception of death: anxiety about the absence of connection...leads to the passion to connect (to experience the pleasure before one dies). (2) But sexuality can also be a defense against death (like a drug): avoiding the perception of old age and death by keeping oneself in a constantly revved up state up excitement. (3) There's plenty of polymorphous perversity going down. It's just that it's not part of the overt culture. Switch to another channel of the Internet (below the "public" culture), and there it is: everywhere.

Exercising restraint around sexuality isn’t a taboo. However people amplify the taboos to emulate control just as some seek to taboo the taboos to establish the idealistic society of free sexual expression. Both are amplifications while, exercising sexual restraint enables the consciousness to practice and ready oneself for the other most exoctic human experience, death.

"Sexual inclinations are disparaged by the cultural mainstream." They are certainly disparaged from a Christian point of view, if institutionalized. And I find it hard to object to that as an active Christian. Tolerance, yes, bullying, no, but not on par with the one institution of marriage. We live in a pretty much God-less age, partly due to the currently perceived opposition of science and religion, but this will change again decades or more down the track.
