Great video, thank you! One correction though, I believe that at 1:04 it is called polygenic rather than polygenetic

I really appreciate the time taken to make these videos, will you be making them for Stress and/or Gender?
@PsychBoost4 жыл бұрын
Hey, glad your enjoying them! Before this year's exams, gender yes I think so, but maybe around May. Stress not this year unfortunately. Maybe a in 20 mins video on the days running up to the exams but will have to decide closer to the time.

The book i have says the ripki study was 37000 not 36000, which is true?

It is 36,989, and actually, their genetics were compared to 113,075 non-SZ controls. It is *very important* you get both of these numbers exactly right in your exam. Otherwise, all is lost! (not really, examiners are far more interested in you showing you know what the results mean than that level of precision)

Just so everyone knows i believe something may have been added to the genetic basis of SZ because in my textbook it consists of: Family/twin studies, candidate genes and the role of mutation (the last one wasnt mentioned)

Hey, I recommend you always keep looking at this link if you trying to find out if you need to know a concept. www.aqa.org.uk/subjects/psychology/as-and-a-level/psychology-7181-7182/subject-content-a-level It tells you the concepts you really need to know for each topic. It does not mention mutation. Biological explanations for schizophrenia: genetics and neural correlates, including the dopamine hypothesis. The textbook may have given additional context around genetics; and you could use it in an essay. However, it is not a requirement.

That’s a bit annoying that my teacher has included it in our lessons! Thank you for letting me know.
