I love how the reds and greens looked, but it breaks my heart how the yellow sunflowers turned out. 😩 Thanks for sharing!

Yep, the sunflowers and corn got drained

Yellow is difficult to reproduce because it occupies only a very small part of the full colour space and lack a good, or well-defined complementary colour. This is a well-known problem in colour science. Yellow needs special measures to make it work properly.

I was just going to say, reds are niceish, but it does not like yellow. Not one little bit.

Oh, I love the gritty toned-down images! My favorite of the roll is the shot of the sunflowers...

Interesting color saturation. I feel like the name is kinda misleading though. "Psychedelic" screams vibrant weird colors or an experimental aspect, but that's just me. 🤷
@theoldcameraguyАй бұрын
Yeah, I think these are definitely not psychedelic in terms of vibrant colors. More psychedelic in terms of vintage looking photos that evoke old slightly faded photos from the psychedelic era/timeframe.

@@theoldcameraguy ahh okay, I can maybe see that angle. But idk, I still want some weird lol.

Yeah, looks more like consequences after taking something psychedelic

Yeah -- it's got that mellow color vibe of the European color films -- works well with subjects that have lots of color pop -- as well as the overcast midwest. And interesting skin on the portraits, a bit gritty and grainy, looking more like 'news' photos. And hey -- no wonder the fair is empty! All the folks in Delaware (the state) are still on the road trying to get there!!! 🤣
@theoldcameraguyАй бұрын
And again, I’m always trying to to get into the fair before the rides open to get that desolate, deserted look
@aengusmacnaughton1375Ай бұрын
@@theoldcameraguy Right -- and you have a lot more freedom for composition versus competing with a crowd. The only bad part is that most of the food places aren't open yet! I love the shots of the various county-fair 'home-made' competition items -- our local county fair is losing a lot of that as our county has been transitioning from mostly farmland to now mostly residential....

It's definitely has a retro vibe going on there, Dave. I think it worked quite well for the portraits, too. My favourite shot was the two chairs on the metal fence.

I liked the portraits better than I thought I would

Love this film !!! Desaturated colors with slightly bluish vibe. The grain also seems to be not too annoyingly strong. Just hard to get, probably … and not cheap, considering the shipping costs from overseas. 😬

The old Agfa ancestry of this film is clear from the colours and the grain texture. It is good that this is still available.

Nice photos. I like the colors on the rides. It seems to turn yellows into another color as in your corn and sunflower photos. I would check this film out. And speaking of rebadged film. Fuji is supposedly having Kodak make their film since Fuji film is made in the USA now. Rumor has it it is actually Gold and Ultramax. I don't think that is right. The ony rebadged film that I am sad about.
@theoldcameraguyАй бұрын
Yeah, I’ve heard this same thing about the whole Fuji/ Kodak manufacturing process

Yeah as I was watching I was thinking the same things you said.. Nice calm slightly muted colors that would be easy to edit how you like.. The colors are quite close to real and the whites are nice.. See I often can only find stuff like Fuji in markets around here if I am in a hurry to pick up something.. And Fuji tends to have this almost greenish tones to the dark areas sometimes.. I noticed this film did not and the shadows and whites where quite nice .. If it had less grain it would be a close contender maybe with some Portra. Thanks for the video

Context. On their own, they had a good image captures but when compared to the live video you included, the film became lifeless. Colors were muted, yellow's were especially flat. Over all it had an over exposed look to it. Having said that, my favorite film has been the Kodachrome 64 since 1975 when I shot my first roll in high school.
