The revival of #PsychedelicHealing in clinical research and culture is transforming their public image. On June 14, 2024, Psychedelic Support hosted Erika Dyck, PhD, who presented this shift, tracing psychedelics’ historical roots and their fluctuating reputation over time.
The webinar revisited #PsychedelicMedicine research from the 1950s, which integrated various mind-altering traditions and faced a setback with the prohibitions of the 1970s. This led to distinct uses in clinical, religious, and cultural contexts. The current #Renaissance prioritizes clinical applications, with other uses remaining marginalized. Dr. Dyck discussed these divisions and their future impact.
Dr. Erika Dyck, a historian at the University of Saskatchewan, specializes in health history and social justice. Her extensive publications and leadership roles, including her presidency of the Alcohol and Drugs History Society, highlight her expertise in psychedelic research.
