I've worn out my Thesaurus searching for words which describe the experience when listening to Lara Fabian ........ there are no more superlatives left. When she performs she pours her entirety into that performance; When she sings she sings from her heart and no matter the language ..... my heart hears.

This is it. If I could only have one song for the rest of my life, it's this. My favorite chord progression, the beautiful, soaring orchestration, the melody that is profound in it's simplicity, and the lyrics are pure poetry. It's better in French but this is a good translation: Close the door and put your coat just there, Sit down next to me. What I have to say to you, I will only say it once, I will say it only to you. If I'd known the streams that would fall on my land, If I'd seen the burns ravaging my flesh, If I'd have known all that, the impossible back and forths of love, I would have put my life in yours, as if our blood blends in our veins, I would have stayed close to you, believe me Things out of control, you would've protected me from myself My soul sister, my queen For so long I've loved you Give me your hand, I beg you, please don't pull it back. What ties us is beyond, organic, mineral, karmic, indefinable... What binds me to you goes beyond. If only I believed what I needed to believe! What a shame... Desert oases aren't always just mirages. If I had known all that, the great promises which fall short in love. I would have put my life in yours, as if our blood blends in our veins. I would have stayed close to you, believe me. Things out of control, you would've protected me from myself, my soul sister, my queen. Next time, perhaps in a thousand years. I already know, that in another world, You will put your life in mine, we will go where our hearts lead us, you will stay there close to me. Of your hopes, your joys, your sorrows, I will protect you from yourself. You will put your life in mine, we will go where our hearts lead us, you will stay there close to me. Believe me! Of your hopes, your joys, your sorrows, I will protect you from yourself, my soul sister, my queen. For so long I have loved you. For so long I have loved you. For so long, so long, so long I have loved you. For so long, so long, so long I have loved you.

Oh, I think I too would choose this song to carry with me forever, you have described it very well, the greatness of this song within its apparent simplicity. Every time I listen to it it moves me just like the first time, it never loses that strength even if I hear it a thousand times. I also like that it is such a beautiful and deep song dedicated to her friend of the soul, to friendship ... it is so beautiful

@@CrisLabynia I didn't know she wrote it in honor of a friend. Is there anything more you can share about that? What friend? Was there something in particular that inspired it at that time? I've always heard it as a love is love song, especially after seeing this video.

@@elizabethwhite1068 Hello, Lara has commented on it several times, she wrote it for her best friend Natalie, who is Belgian and they have known each other since they were young. On many occasions she has spoken about her and the unconditional friendship they have with each other. She was the one who told her about Rick Allison, a pianist who played in a bar in Brussels.

@@CrisLabynia Thanks for that! As more interviews are becoming available with English subtitles I am learning more, but haven't heard anything about this song yet. I'm also trying to learn some French so I can eventually follow her introductions better. Almost 4 yrs later and I still have much to learn about her and her songs!

@@elizabethwhite1068 I don't speak French either, just a little bit, but I've managed to understand her interviews, she speaks with such perfection that it makes it easier. I'm going to look for an interview where she talks about the song Ma vie dans la tienne to show it to you. Saludos!
