I didn't know it was a tribute to her best friend. She's gay, right? It's one of my most favorite songs. The lyrics are pure poetry. I thought it was just Lara being her lovely inclusive self, but of course I should have known it was more personal than that.

I first heard Lara in January 2020 when I was at home with Covid. From the first clip (Je Suis Malade) I was captivated and then hooked. I had to hear her voice every day ever since. She is a rare and beautiful artist who really cannot be compared to any other artist. Singing in twelve languages, there really is no one else who comes close to her power, her passion, her ability to make emotions come to life in everything she does. I am so glad to see so many reacting to her and being blown away just as I was, and still her more recent work continues to take my breath away. I have performed with some of the top singers in the world over a 50+ year career and she is the only one who can make me cry.

I hope you are feeling better. Lara is like a warm blanket, so comforting and easy to relax into. These are three of my favorite songs. The first two came from her album Nue, which was written after her American dream ended as a nightmare and took her into a dark place. It's arguably her best album. Ma Vie Dans La Tienne is a close 2nd for my favorite album. And if I had to choose one song for the rest of my life, it would be that title track.
