Awesome! Sometimes you have to try a few out before one works. Newer antipsychotics have been more successful with less harmful side effects. Unfortunately it’s far from a perfect process and we are still learning so much.

If this was real, the patient would be 50 pounds overweight. Never seen anyone this thin on psych meds

No one seems to tell patients that are taking anti no one seems to tell patients that of taking antipsychotics but they actually get more receptors in their brain from the antipsychotics and become sensitive to Doberman over time so they're more likely to have more episodes of psychosis even though they're compliant with their medication

This is exactly what happened to me on a trial of Buspar. No doctor could diagnose me, in spite of me telling them it started after taking Buspar. I am no longer taking any meds, but sadly, still experience the side effects: jaw movements, movements in hands/fingers and my gait was affected. Anyone else have a reaction to Buspar?

Sorry to hear. Please see a doctor to investigate. It can happen as a side effect - not common but possible.

I had it for Abilify, up until now, almost two years later I get days of inmense anxiety and restlessness, and facial ticks and twitches. It usually keeps me up, and it's not that frecuent, but it doesn't go away completely

Hi, I was taking wellbutrin for a while but using it improperly (under and over dosing myself and taking it inconsistently when you’re specifically supposed to take it consistently). I did this due to adhd and I thought it was a good method for me. I now think I am experiencing symptoms of tardive and that really freaks me out and I don’t know what I should do because the wellbutrin really DOES help my mental health, I’m so much more depressed without it and if I had to stop taking it forever that would be heartbreaking :/ I’ve started taking it more regularly now that I’ve learned my lesson about proper use but still have tardive symptoms :( my friends say I should stop fully, but I want to be able to get back on it in the near future since it helps my depression SO much. What should I do? And if I stop fully will I be able to get back on it in the future without “reigniting” the tardive?

Yo, I'm not a dr just personal experience, if you feel the Wellbutrin helps, talk to your doctor about taking a lower dosage. Quitting cold-turkey could exascerbate your TD symptoms. Each medication comes with its own neat little withdrawal effects too! Quitting or changing meds should also involve your doctor as ideally WD can be avoided by tapering your medication downward over time. Hope this helps!

so why does this man have the diagnosis of schizophrenia, IF he does not meet the DMS IV criteria? He should not be on the haldol /haloperidol (serenace) ... it is best for him to trial an atypical antipsychotic such as resperidone (olanzapine), IF he really needs to be on any of them at all. What is the evidence for psychosis here in this man ? How common is it for cogentin (benztopine) to also cause some degree of EPS such as TD, when it in itself is often used to help reduce TD in persons on typical antipsychotic meds ?
@PsychiatrySimplified
@PsychiatrySimplified 4 жыл бұрын
When patients are on medication they have residual symptoms and may not meet full criteria. This man is an actor. Other atypical antipsychotics may be preferable in his case. You are correct - cogentin can lead to tardive dyskinesia. Nowadays valbenazine or deutetrabemazine is available for TDs. Dear Sirs, thanks. In Germany in 2021, valbenazine is not being allowed in germany. The local bavarian clinics partly still prescribe Halodiperol... I got my TDs from an overdose of Eli lilly's Zyprexa (TM). The doctor tried me to get rid of those dyskenesia I got from the maximum dose of zyprexa. He wouldn't believe me I was not ill. We have this sometimes in Bavaria, germany. Psychiatry ain't a big strength even on the most renowned psychiatries in Bavaria county, gemany... It makes me havon trouble w/ police and authorities as well as w/ employers (I am mechanical engineer and am giving lessons on emgineering. I worked as a scientist for engineering and Miss it a bit :-) India is a strong competitor). Kindest of regards Alex Dipl.ing.b At Gmail Da Com .
