I think this is the “therapist” Amber set up her cover story with, playing her like a fiddle. In last week’s testimony they brought up some therapist who’d said she believed Amber’s various claims that she “never egged it on” and “only picked herself up” after his beatings. She seemed like a demented nutcase herself supporting Amber’s deception, from the notes they brought up in testimony, even if she was just deceived herself. She has the vibe I would expect.. Yeah this lady is a joke. Plus she ignored the notes of the nurses and doctors that said Amber had no signs of trauma or injuries relating to abuse or of any kind. She supposedly based her whole assessment off of what Amber said and everyone else's notes and testimony, but she completely ignored any that made Amber look bad or at fault or like she was the abuser. It was clear as day how biased she was and how she sided with Amber because she was paid to and had worked with her attorneys in the past. They probably picked her because they knew she could be bought and would present "facts" that portrayed Amber in a positive light. I'm glad one of Johnny's attorneys called her out on it some. But I wish he would have focused on that more, or at least more intensely.

I love how Dr. Curry specifically said in her testimony that as a psychologist in her position, you shouldn't make a testimony in court about someone that is your client, because you will take a side and that is your client. She kept her testimony so neutral, kept it professional by not taking any sides and just told the jury what she found in her testing on Amber. She explained it very well, showed that the test was very thorough and what she found meant for Amber's behavior and mental state. Dr. Karen over here is obviously biased and takes Amber's side, which indicates that her testimony isn't legit in this case. She is a complete joke compared to Dr. Curry.

Dr. Curry is an extremely sharp and intelligent lady, who knows her profession inside and out. Dr. Hughes completely lost me with her bias and insinuation that the abuser was always the male and abused always the female. As a professional I think showing her thought process was valuable. The reason why I didn't find her professional is because she didn't provide everything she had to the court (no matter how big or small it was) and was not objectively repeating what Amber said. Since she is a person who supports DV victims and utilizes a harm reduction model, believing the person to provide them support is great IMHO BUT I don't know how she's testified in court with the way she talks as if she was there at every instance she's alleging to the jury is true, reading notes, and acting kind of rude towards everyone including the judge. This psychologist is a huge liar. She contradicted herself and Amber's lawyers so many times. Not to mention that she's also extremely biased and sexist. Edit: I would also like to add that she did say men could be victims of abuse too which is fact. However, after that she used pronouns which implicated that she believes only women can be victims of abuse. She also said that size was a huge factor when it comes to perpetuating abuse (SO FALSE AND WRONG IN SO MANY WAYS) and that men are much bigger than women so therefore they can't be victims. There's so much more sexist statements in Dr. Hughes testimony but that stands out the most considering how absurd and stigmatizing that is to men who are abuse survivors. She also said that she considered amber heard hitting JD as minor violence so therefore it doesn't count as abuse. Which invalidates many abuse survivors experiences.

No psychologist would do this. That is diagnosis by proxy. It is considered scientific malpractice. Any clinical professional would be struck off by their professional body. She also, speaks too much and overloads the listener with data. Uses excessive jargon. The jury likely won’t know what standard deviation is. Also speak clearly, why say symptomatology instead of just ‘symptoms’. She also uses terms I’ve never heard of. She’s also wrong on what a personality disorder is. It need not pervade all areas of life. She is plain wrong on some basic facts given that I know the literature. She’s painting a biased picture. This lady can only be from a cheap back street practice. She has a clear vendetta. Every profession has its bad seeds. She may well be biased due to trauma in her own childhood. I work in a profession where people commonly assume that the longer you've been in my profession the better you will be at your job. The reality is that more often than not you can be stuck in very old theories and methods and ways of working. I think this is what we see going on here between this "Dr" and Dr Curry. If you read this doctors training profile on her own website, her last training was in 2018. That is absolutely diabolical for a doctor. Dr Curry has been in training to keep herself up-to-date every 6 months minimum. The psychologist just owned herself with her explanation why the percentile rank shouldn't be used. If the distribution is normed around abuse survivors, that means the the 50% mark is the average responce of abuse victims. And if it's negatively scaled that means that the distribution of scores is grouped towards the "bottom scores". Therefore, if Amber scored in the 98th percentile on this scale, that means that she displayed a far greater degree of exaggeration compared to average abuse survivors than if the distribution was a normal distribution. Aka, this just means she's an even bigger lier than you would assume based on that score. Edit: someone corrected me that I mixed up negative and positive skews. Positive skews are what I described so its actually the opposite of what I said. But I would argue that the Amber scoring on the 98th percentile is still a valid point if this percentile is based on a cumulative calculation rather than based on the standard deviation of the distribution. If it's cumulative then that means that she still is in the top 2% of people in terms of exaggeration.

Incorrect. It is the opposite as she clearly explained. Negatively skewed by definition means that the left tail is longer and that if you normalize appropriately (as you should), Amber would not be in the 98th percentile. You can not use terminology such as percentile rank when describing results relative to a curve that is not normal which is why it is not supported by the diagnostic manual. The witness' response is self-consistent and was not what you claim. However, it is simply irrelevant to what Dr. Curry actually tried to say which is typical misdirection.

I think this dr Hughes exposed herself not as an objective forensic fact finder for the court, but someone who’s clearly heavily biased and attempting to advocate on behalf of amber rather then simply provide her own expert opinions. Just look at the difference in her testimony, and dr curry. Dr curry was not adversarial towards amber whatsoever, she wasn’t advocating for jd at all, and she was simple and concise, and she also didn’t need to read from a script to get through her testimony, which any supposed professional witness such as dr Hughes claims would know first and foremost that you are not allowed to do this. Dr curry didn’t also try and provide a narrative through the lens of providing some expert analysis by engaging in literal hearsay such as this doctor did. I mean the almost entire portion of her testimony on direct was her as an expert witness providing to the jury supposed detailed accounts of violence and abuse proported by mr depp as if she was an actual witness to any of the events she was talking about or had some sort of corroborating evidence when she almost entirely was going directly off of what amber heard reported, and then using her position as expert witness to then repeat the allegations amber heard had made to her as if they were concrete fact. I’m sure as flustered and flippant as she was getting at the mere thought of being interrupted by the objections etc the cross examination will literally tear her entire testimony apart and also seek to fluster her in a manner that shows to the jury she isn’t simply some expert providing an opinion that differs from the one dr curry gave but someone directly attempting to advocate for amber heard.

The way both doctors presented themselves is like night and day. Dr Curry - Professional, precise, thorough. She was clinical with her diagnosis. Dr Hughes - Unprofessional (sighing and rolling her eyes at objections, throwing her notes at Johnny's lawyers), not using the psych evals correctly, leaving pertinent information off. Dr Hughes seemed to be led by Amber's emotions instead of being objective while conducting her tests.

This psychologist testified that JD did xyz... it's not the psychologists job to testify that someone else did something that they never even witnessed. She can say AH told her that Johnny did xyz, but she cannot confirm that JD did something based on what someone else said, especially if she did not evaluate him. Dr Curry even stated that it was not the psychologists' job to determine whether someone commited a crime, that was the investigator's job. If the jury was paying attention, they will remember that detail.
