I wanted to let you know I thoroughly enjoyed Psychology in Seattle Podcast 13 year anniversary special. I loved it. Kirk the strength and support between you and Humberto is a friendship that most of us are seeking...but..rarely find in this world Being able to stay tuned in for the entire duration was easy for me because I actually felt like I had been invited and welcomed into your home. Kirk, you are so appreciated for the person you are and the work you do as a Therapist. Thank-you for being the good friend to us viewers who actively seek to improve their Life... You offer tools and resources that inspire people to be the best version of themselves.. Thank-you.. Krystle Victoria BC

Thank you for talking about how the media we consume affects us. I didn't realize it myself until I had to stay at a domestic violence shelter with roommates who watched Forensic Files on the TV all night. I had to file a formal grievance process that was mediated but in the end the agreement between me and the other roommates was the TV could be on all night but only on PBS Kids channel :-) I stopped having nightmares after that.

Thank-you Kirk for your dedication in speaking about what is true and false about abuse in relationships. i.e. narcissistic personality types, depression symptoms etc. Thank-you.

I used trauma bonding, before hearing it used, as bonding with my abuser then started hearing people use it in the way that they bonded with friends over traumas

Until 1983 Dutch was an official language in South Africa. And ZA stands for Zuid Afrika in Dutch. 😊 Just lik New Zealand is spelled with a Z because it was renamed after the province Zeeland in the Netherlands.

Also I thought it was just my city where the Nextdoor app is just full of people being suspicious of other people.

Keep up the observation.. the assessments in a system that is founded on Traumatic Bonds are accurate.... primarily because the fruit is revealing signs of the root...but with Eastern awareness these would be premature...

It was interesting to listen to you talk about the Soviet Union. My family lived in Soviet Union (Lithuania) and they were as terrified of that regime (also, persecuted, even earlier they’d been deported to Siberia, lives were ruined etc.). Of course, that doesn’t justify hatred against a group of people. There are regimes and ideologies and there are people.

OMG! It feels like you saw through me😅 exactly when u live with an abusive caregiver you try your best to be a nice ''good girl''. Hope that maybe it might keep the house in more peace even for while! so you swallow your anger, fear, anxiety etc. you wonder maybe you deserve this. It is your fault! you grow up with anxiety and you don't know how to regulate your emotions don't forget PTSD! Thank you so much for your amazing podcast and videos they helped me a lot !

Trauma bonding and trauma response are the new narcissism and codependency on social media. 🥴

Regarding your comment on people being anxious and based on the rising prevalence of anti-vaxxers, conspiracy theories, pseudosciences etc., do you think we are seeing higher levels of neuroticism?

Man Comcast is the absolute worst. I hate them with a passion and any time I hear their name it makes me irrationally angry. One thing that I’m sure you have tried but that always worked with me for dealing with Comcast is to threaten to go to a competitor or to cancel your service. The only thing they care about is money so threatening their wallet usually gets you a competent person (usually). But good luck lol.
