@@kevinkevin1820 i would wait a bit longer b4 making any quick judgement. the story still has much room for building. Raz became an agent. his personal curses have been lifted. and now with the psychonauts stronger than ever they can catch that dentist 1(who still gets away) and tackle much larger issues. plus this sequel has easily succeeded in its popularity which only helps also sell the original, adding to its veteran fanbase. not that im greedily fiending for a sequel but i wouldnt say theres 0 potential for more psychonauts ever.

@@BHsoFunny I say that because the first was such an amazing game and most reviews are saying this one is better. Also I can’t think of any platformer that can really give it any competition as we don’t get many these days. Ratchet and clank was fun but not really platforming as much as shooting and nothing else I can think of coming out this year will be close to it. If you know any other platformer that could beat it I’d like to know just so I can play it lol. But really I don’t see anything touching P2 with the caliber of its developers and the originality of the game.

@@masoncook8997 I thought of that too but after beating it, it is a pretty game but it really was easy and not so much a platformer as a third person shooter with light platforming. Psychonauts is way more on the platform side of things with light combat. And I still think there were better ratchet games on PS2 as far as gameplay. My fav is still going commando and up your arsenal and deadlocked. After that they may look better but I prefer the older ones as far as the gameplay.

Buying the first Psychonauts on Steam August of 2020 while it was on sale for a single penny under a single dollar and playing through it and beating the playthrough early to mid January, with me also having Game Pass on my PC with Psychonauts 2 being on Game Pass without having to buy the game to play I jumped into playing Psychonauts 2 from start up to unlocking all of it's achievements making Psychonauts 2 my first game of my three current games on Game Pass where I have 1000 out of 1000 Gamerscore on! The two games on my Game Pass library to have followed Psychonauts 2 in joining my 1000 out of 1000 Gamerscore list are follow Tim Schafer game Full Throttle Remastered and Doom 64. Psychonauts as a franchise today has earned the recognition that it deserves which it failed to get during it's debut as an IP. Lovely video btw!

It makes me glad that while OG Psychonauts gained a cult following off word of mouth more than anything, the sequel is a real opportunity for the franchise to come into the light. With writing and level design like this, it's certainly earned it.

The original came out on my 18th birthday. It was a week and a half before my high school graduation. I remember skipping school and going to the mall (RIP) and buying this and GTA SA for the og Xbox. Great times.

If there was ever a game that should receive a remaster it is the first Psychanaughts. Perhaps the sequel given its place on GamePass will finally garner the attention the series deserves. In my opinion it is every bit as good as Ratchet & Clank. It should sit shoulder to shoulder with the greatest platformers ever created.

I have played, beaten and 100% completed Psychonauts 2 now. Absolutely loved it! However I do agree that the combat is a weak point. Not bad, but could be improved. The cool down times on abilities really slows the pace of combat. Enemy lock on mechanic is pretty iffy. Having to swap out abilities frequently to best combat different enemies is annoying. Also meaning having to change the abilities back after combat ends. One other minor nit pick is the wall jump mechanic, which sometimes caused me to jump off walls un expectedly and caused a few falls where I didn't want to go. In all not huge issues and no where enough to lower the absolute joy I had playing this gem. Great game 😁

They had 15 years and couldn't even take the time to fix the gameplay issues. If Those issues happen to be present in psychonauts 2 I won't buy the game. you of course understand I almost broke my controller due to fits of rage from the original game.

What if it was on ps5 only and not ps4? I'm happy with ps4 release because it has more hands compared to ps5.. Ps5 can run this through backwards compatibility.. This game was announced for PC, last gen console before Microsoft took over the studios.. Porting to ps5 is more investment which they didn't want to do..
