That song is actually one of the things that shook my worldview. I was able to understand how I had been centering myself in other people’s problems.

"Bo is using humor to cope with and share with us the harsh reality of what is going on society" your understanding of gallows humor is so refreshing, I've seen so many folks see this and go lol funny sock man and not realize the mental implications that got him there in the brain state to make this.

So glad you're continuing to react to this. "Inside" is straight up genius and it's obvious Bo has had mental health issues and found his own unique ways to deal with it. Like most of us did during the pandemic, except he's way funnier. I wish him the best and hope to see him return to the comedy routine!

Funny thing is that in Germany we have a whole cultural thing about "serious comedy", it's called Kabarett. Talking about actual political things in a way that makes you laugh but feel very queasy. Volker Pispers take on America in the Middle East is a masterclass of that. Highly recommend if you ever get to it, it has pretty good english subtitles!

You’re right, it’s so important for comedians to bring everyone along, as they point out the cracks in society. Josh Johnson, the standup, is also brilliant at this and i strongly recommend his YT channel. He posts almost 30 minutes of new material every week.
@edisonlima46472 ай бұрын
Yes, his genius on starting with banalities, engaging on deeper subjectd most of us agree to and then revealing a sense of autocritic that questions our approach to the subject is such a strong artistic vein he has. "White Woman's Instagram", for instance, manages to pull the carpet from under a trope and from our "throwing stones while having glass ceilings" online habits! Definitely recommend.

Lovely observations you have. I noticed you also reacted to “Can’t Handle This,” and I think you’d REALLY like “All Eyes on Me” from the Inside special from Netflix as well. Unlike most of his work, it is completely serious-and in it he discusses his anxiety issues and setbacks. Melodically it’s the most beautiful music he’s ever created, a song for which he rightfully won a Grammy.
@israelfreire26692 ай бұрын
I agree to almost full extent to what you wrote here! Perhaps I’d argue, melodically, The Chicken definitely has won it for me.

That Funny Feeling next please It's actually a good song that I could potentially hear being played on a kind of folk song radio station because it's that good and sounds like a real song. Not that his other songs aren't real, That Funny Felling just hits different and really doesn't have or make jokes. It's also been covered by the artist Phoebe Bridgers. There's a video out there where Bo is at one of Phoebe's concerts while she preforms his song.

I heavily recommend checking out the song “Daddy” by Korn, it’s honestly probably the most vulnerable I’ve ever seen a musician be (like EVER). It’s a hard listen because the song is about the singer getting raped by his babysitter when he was a kid, and his parents didn’t believe him when he told them and they just didn’t care and kept hiring him anyways. It’s just a piece of art tbh

Loved this reaction video. I enjoy Bo's work. But if you're interested in more social commentary, satire, or even heartfelt and thought provoking, please try pretty much anything available on KZbin that is done by Tim Minchin. I especially recommend "The Fence", "White Wine in the Sun", "Lullaby", "Carry You", "Rock n Roll Nerd", "Perfect" and "Play It Safe", to name just a few! Tim Minchin was an inspiration for Bo's work. Your welcome in advance 😉

Edit: as you watch Bo's cobtent, DO NOT skip That Funny Feeling (reactors seem to not notice it?) and The Chicken (which was technically left on the cutting room floor in editing).
