For such a talented, both he and his father both served in the British Army , watch no bravery from James

Two wonderful songs by James Blunt are the result of his military service in the British Army while in Kosovo. “Carry me home “, always makes me cry . Also “No Bravery” filmed by James in the Balkans. Well worth exploring.

The mourning of what could have been, what felt promised, is really highlighted. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the video😊

This speaks to me on so many levels, i had 2 miscarriages when i was 19 and 21, both miscarriages happened a few days after finding out i was pregnant. I lost my first love a few months after my second miscarriage, when he suddenly died in his sleep due to an undiagnosed heart condition. While i was devastated with each loss i look back and realise that i wasn't in the best living situation at the time and wasn't anywhere near ready to be a parent. i went back to college when i was 22, where i made loads of friends including one boy who became my best friend for 6 years, before we gave into our feelings and became a couple. We decided a few yrs later to start trying for a baby. Sadly after 16yrs of trying we never got our dream of being parents together. Sadly i lost my soul mate in august last year when he suddenly died after coming home from his job as a carpenter. We had to wait 3 months to find out what caused his death, although i felt i knew already. He'd also died of a heart attack caused by an undiagnosed heart condition. (The same thing that killed my first love) Losing my soul mate crushed me, I've never felt grief like it, nearly a year later i still cant quite get used to the fact he's gone. I can't see myself ever being a mother now, i don't think i could do it without him.

Thank you for a compassionate, insightful, and educational reaction to this one. The way Ren tells each victim's story so viscerally with just himself and the guitar never ceases to amaze me.

This is the best reaction I’ve seen to this. Well done for opening up the psychology of the words in such detail but also so easily understandable. Amazing.

Great reaction. :) Something I don't see mentioned a lot is how, when Ren is singing Jenny's part, he never looks at the camera (non-confrontational), with Screech he looks directly at the camera (confrontational). Such a small bit to add to the story tell, but effective.

You said it. The best anyone has ever done…like we all dream of coming up with the words, seconds 3:28-3:59. Seriously. I keep listening to it. You did it! You win the freaking best lyric reaction video and I’ll be back for much more. “RENs just bit a a musician, he’s a story teller, he’s a therapist. He’s a pioneer. He’s an innovator He’d a creator with a capital C. A here are plenty of creators with a small c. He is a capital C in my book.” That is brilliant. You must be deep into Rens rabbit hole of artistry?! Really it doesn’t take that many songs before you find that description, just not in as beautiful perfect of a word! Thank you

Beautiful song, incredible voice...oh, to have someone love me like that. Just that love was never meant for me. Not sure why not. I think maybe I'm here on earth for others, not myself.

Everything Ren does is intentional. The words he chooses, the notes he plays, absolutely everything is very intentional to drive home an emotion through his music.

Such a great, considered reaction. You spotted a few things I hadn’t before but, more importantly, you opened the conversation about generational abuse. This is the beauty of Ren’s work, he opens the door to conversations that are often avoided or swept under the carpet. 💜

I've seen this video many, many times on my own and watched countless reactions to it. I have never not cried when Ren stands up. Having verbally said "fuck you" twice before to the darkness trying to overwhelm him, I feel like mustering the effort and energy to stand is the ultimate physical expression of that sentiment. Love your reaction and insight.

I'm lucky enough to have been alive to see all the the arguably best person in pretty much anything. Michael Jordan, Wayne Gretzky, Tom Brady, Nolan Ryan to name sports greats. And now we have Ren. How lucky are we? He's got a brilliant catalog already and with just this single song he's been jettisoned into the pantheon of brilliant songwriters and performers. As a standalone piece of art this is an absolute masterclass in all things music and performance. Welcome to the fold of Renegades.

Doing hammer-ons and pull-offs on a nylon string guitar is actually easier than on a steel string - EVH did it on Spanish Fly, which is where I think Ren got the idea.

You are the first person I've seen that caught the entirety of story and its implications in their first viewing. For instance, most people will have to listen twice to think of certain things like how screech and Jenny's interaction was exactly what it was because of the default responses they got from their parents, Jenny was quiet like violet and froze when met by screech, a violent boy who felt the full frustration of her being silent, just like his father. Odd satisfaction seeing someone not miss what was there to be seen the first time through 👍

When I first saw these video’s months ago all I could do is just sit with my mouth hanging open for a bit. Ren is an amazing musical artist, lyric genius, and a fabulous story teller with a message. My older brother and I were the ones in my family that stopped the long cycle of abuse for our future generations

So Violet has done what any one of us would do and has been drawn to a situation (relationship) that she sees as her "normal". This is where she feels "comfortable" because this is a situation where she feels she has some control and understands the "rules". Don't ever underestimate this. This is why it takes people suffering domestic abuse so many attempts at leaving the situation. The loss of control is more terrifying than the abuse that you have become accustomed to.
