This was a really interesting song because it was the first track on the album released after Lil Peep's death; so for a lot of fans, it was the first new song they heard from Peep and it starts off with "I gotta go right now, that's all" - quite the affecting introduction, given the fact he was gone. This song wasn't actually made as one single track by Peep, its a combination of two songs he did with other artists and some random leftover vocal snippets he'd recorded. His producer cut the different parts together in the studio to create a cohesive whole song with just Peep singing on it, so it was manufactured somewhat intentionally to produce a strong reaction and to seem like Peep was alluding to his own passing. I'm not sure if Peep would've liked the mashup that was created out of his songs but it's definitely one of my all-time favourite Lil Peep tracks.

Hey Jesse, I didn’t know this, thanks so much for the info! I sometimes feel a bit weird about posthumous releases when the track isn’t released in the way the artist had intended it to be. But conversely, I feel peep (or Juice, or Mac Miller, Pop Smoke, XXX etc) would want as much of their music as possible to reach the fans. It’s a tricky one.

This is a great write up about the track, but I just want it to be known that “Spotlight” was the first song posthumously released followed by “4 gold chains” and then the album singles

hey I've been listening to peep for about 5 1/2 years now if you want some amazing songs that i think would fit great with your style of commentary it would have to be Lil jeep, leanin, pray i die, the Brightside, runaway, the way i see things, falling 4 me, love letter, praying to the sky, five degrees, suck my blood and past the castle walls but even with all these songs i haven't even touched the surface of some of the amazing music peep put out there before his passing. I love your videos man! This has always been one of my favorite Lil Peep songs. This is definitely one of his better songs, despite not many people knowing this one. I feel like the first part is about him messing up and being careless with his relationship and just breaking down then the second part is after the breakup, realizing that he was wrong and that he should have done better. I think that so many people can relate to this. We have all likely ruined a good relationship that we once had with someone.
