And I feel like he’s talking about his emotions when saying to let him go. His burdens, regret, anger, depression etc. they’re all attached to him. “They don’t want me happy, they don’t want me fixed, they just want me hurt, etc…” he wants to be set free from them and just be himself for once. NF commonly refers to his emotions similar to referring to another physical being which for me personally has helped so much with my own mental health struggles to almost identify emotions as a person who you can have a conversation with and understand how to overcome them. I may be way off base but that’s how his music has spoken to me. Example would be intro III. He’s having a back and forth with fear and anger lives in the basement. Love your Channel Tom! Thank you!!

Good afternoon Tom, You said you wanted upbeat, and I was like, "Oh boy, not quite the vibe on this one." What a display of self reflection in the most artistic way! I believe NF is speaking to his personified emotions/demons/burdens that he has told to "Leave Me Alone." It's an inner dialogue in speaking to himself and GOD, shattering his perception of the man in the mirror that is still Searching, but hasn't found hope yet. I forget which song it was, but NF references finding "Freedom", and I believe these are the 7 letters he is referring to. It just so happens that the double entendre, "Let Me Go", is also 7 letters in the track title. He wants the thoughts and voices in his mind to leave him alone so that he can finally have hope, being free of the draining bondage that likely drives his OCD and his MO of chasing perfection with broken legs (Mansion).

@@michaelcahill6846 I think that fame is part of it but the fact that the song centers around his OCD which is obsessive negative thinking that is what he wants to leave him alone. In the video he covers his ears when he says leave me alone. IMO that is him wanting all the noise in his head to stop

Nf saved my life. I have been in a very dark place for a very long time. I stumbled across an NF song one day and it grabbed my attention. I started the NF journey, he spoke directly to me, I then reached out for help (just in time too). I got diagnosed with Ptsd, severe depression, Ocd and social anxiety. I got help from a psychiatrist , psychologist, have started CBT and talking therapy. I know it's not a quick fix but as NF says, I'm not out of it but don't feel like I can't be. I'm 53.

Freedom is the seven letters. To me since I have OCD like he does it is him speaking to himself. Almost like confronting his OCD and how he is a perfectionist. He wants that part of him to let him go. He wants freedom from it.

So I have an interesting perspective on this.... I think it's a song about suicide. "Let me go" as the meaning of being free from the world... I think His contradictions in his faith made him depressed and the 7 letters were "freedom" But at the end he "shoots his reflection" basically saying "I'm not this person, I know this now... time to move on and make a better me" Breaking away from his depressed "perception"

I think your right about him talking to himself in this song cuz he's said before that he's a perfectionist, and he says, "you just want perfection". Also, he talks about shooting his reflection. The 7 letters he's talking about is the word freedom cuz early on in the song he says, "maybe get a taste of freedom".

A lot of people think he’s talking about suicide because he says “let me go” and talks about they want me dead (and i do believe he is talking to himself for the most part so it would make sense) but I think he wants freedom. Poetically speaking though suicide can be a metaphor for freedom, plus like you said 7 letters for let me go. If you think metaphorically they can all mean the same thing. Your channel has opened eyes and given people insite they did not have before. Having multiple perspectives and being able to see how others might see something different than you to me is the whole point of reaction videos. I hope you learn not doubt wether your channel is positive or negative. If its viewed by others as negative they just dont understand or have much empathy..... Long as you enjoy it and it's not hurting others it shouldn't matter anyway. Thank you so muxh for the time and work it goes into your videos. Keep up the good work, I was all ways wondering how a psychotherapist thinks about NF music and how many people dealing with many problems gravitate to him as well find help with in listing to him. When I first found NF next to no one was listing to him then not long later I started finding people that did then not much more after that I found people that had addiction problems tell me NF helps them. Few years ago I remember a guy just got out of a rehab place and it was next to a CVS I go to he needed a ride right up the road I felt ok help him and when he got in and I was playing NF he was shocked and was telling me how much NF music helps him. He looked confused given I looked so called normal and well off given the vehicle I was driving why I would be listing to NF. This was the first time I got someone to explain why they take what they do even tho they know what It can do to them, way I found to ask end up getting the same from others that would never know how to put it in to words. Hard to explain in comments with out it being too long. As for NF music I think any one can listen and appreciate how real with raw emotions he puts in to it with so many parts all of us can really relate to, his skills to rime / rap as well Tommee way of doing things with production just nothing sort of amazing.

I know the comments seem to think that the 7 letters are for freedom, but when I first heard this song I was curious too and I found something different. I didn’t see anything specifically for the song but I did find the following information: “Revelation 2-3 records seven letters written by Jesus to seven churches. In the church at Ephesus, Jesus finds a lot to praise, but his heart is broken by one glaring absence: love. Revelation 2:1-7” and I thought it was a double meaning thing with the 7 letters also being in “let me go”

People think the 7 lettered word is freedom, but I think it is suicide. The song also lists every way to end one's life. Also, which is why he asks if he would find Heaven or Hell, if he reached the 7 lettered word. He speaks several times about being suicidal in other songs.
@reneedisabatino36932 жыл бұрын
That is an interesting perspective except for the fact that he says....If I let you go and find the seven letters ive been looking for. I don't think that fits. He wants to find suicide???
@joyilie54242 жыл бұрын
@@reneedisabatino3693 He says, I been looking for us like it's never ending. "Looking for" is not in the same 7 letters line. Its a new line, not the same, like you stated. People who kill themselves are looking for relief. Exactly what and how this song explains. They are not looking for death. No one looks for death. It is what he was hospitalized for, also. Being suicidal. Suicide is about wanting the misery to let you go.

NF is talking to himself but more specifically speaking to his negativity/lies as though they're they're own entity, which coincides with other songs of his speaking of other feelings/emotions such as fear and anger. Also, the seven letters he's looking for is "FREEDOM", which he's mentioned in a few past songs, it's the only thing that really makes sense, he wants freedom from his own mind/thoughts. Honestly if I dig deep enough, he reminds me of Chris Cornell, we all know how that ended, searched but never found peace and ultimately committed suicide. Let's hope NF finds his peace.

Hey man, since you are psychotherapist, you could react to "Diary of a Madman" by Ozzy Osbourne. But since you have a guitar in background, I assume you know the song. In case you don't, the song is about a man going insane who writes a journal about it. His mind is fragmented and he keeps questioning himself and his sanity. It's a great metal/rock ballad, especially since its the last album the guitarist Randy Rhoads worked on before he died in 1982. I would really like your to hear your perspective on it.

@reaction therapy I'm a first time viewer.. love what you're doing. I'm wondering if you've ever heard of the artist Tom Macdonald. If not I'd like to suggest his work for some future videos. he's very supportive of reactions and has in fact been known to visit live streams to interact. he makes incredible music (Rap) and talks about subjects that need talking about but nobody seems to want to acknowledge. I suggest starting at his breakthrough song "Dear Rappers" (one of my all time favorite songs of any genre) and if interested work toward current time from there tons of great content. Dude is Super busy making music constantly. Also his fan base will come out once they notice the content. People seem to get huge pushes to their views once a couple Tom Mac videos have been posted. I'd honestly love to hear what you'd have to say once you've heard a bit about his background and perspective. He's open about his mental health struggles and very positive/supportive.
