She did. She chose this over being the girlfriend of Deadpool. She doesnt want to be a damsel in distress but rather a badass character that's why she went as being Psylocke. And she did justice to the character because she really wanted this role

In the comics she’s also has telepathy abilities, kinetic shield and she can read minds and do some tricks but in the MCU her abilities is limited just like in X-Men Apocalypse but in the comics she’s one of the Most Powerful Omega Level Mutant I think she’s also a Ninja? Tbch I don't care about CGI quality in films too much, but X-Men: Apocalypse is a fundamentally poorly-done movie. It has it's moments but overall it's kinda disappointing (might be a bit biased bc Apocalypse is one of my favorite villains in the comics and the way they did him is just god-awful, they got his personality and basic power-set right, but everything else not so much. I'm willing to give his actor props for his performance though, but Magneto and Quicksilver really carried that movie)
