Entry level Psytrance production. This lesson will show you how to create beginner level kicks and basslines for any style of Psytrance. The purpose was to offer a tutorial that teaches you the basics that you can then manipulate in order to create your own sounds/style.
In the future I will do an intermediate lesson, then also an advanced lesson.
Hopefully this lesson assists you in accomplishing your dream of creating music.

That tip at minute 8 was incredibly useful for a complete newbie like me. I really like that you describe everything you do, like "control shift m" and stuff like that, it really helps us newbies. A bit more of that and then I'd love to see a tutorial for how to make like other basslines for darkpsy? You know like how Farebi Jalebi or Vertical sounds.. Or P Tales. Stuff like that. Again thanks, you're really helping out.

I followed this tutorial to the point and expanded it with macro midi controller knobs for hands-on fine tuning. I limited the macro.. - Take the Hi Bass Operator and group it to use macro knob.. map the setting he's using Fe Decay: 200ms - 600ms Fe Amount: 30% - 90% Filter Freq: 30 Hz - 500 Hz Filter Res: 0% - 100% You can use it as Quick Bass Designer instrument. It works perfect with a midi controller

It was one of the best videos that I found on the internet about psytrance/full on! It clarified a lot of things and make other more simple to me. Please tell me, what playlist of your channell would you indicate to me start, or learn something like a next pass of this video? I Would like to learn things about others components of the battery, to this kind of music, hihat, cymbal, snare... AND of course after this videos, another indication to learn how to do others type of bassline with more musical note... (Would be interesting things without plu-gins, because I have none yet kkkkkkkkkkk) Thank you a lot and I desire all of good to you bro!!!

I have a little issue with the side chain , when I kill the kick and leave the baseline to make a transition, the side chain doesn't work on the baseline so it sounds very bad. I found an other way around to simply cut the volume of the kick and set the side chain to pre master so the compressor continues to use the kick to side chain the baseline. The other method I use is to simply play with the velocity and a fast envelope only to the first note of the triplet baseline. I might lower a little the velocity of the second note. The results are pretty decent. Any thoughts on that ?

I give you a hint.. don't throw everywhere a lowcut just for beeing there... you get phase issues with that method... you are lowcutting your bass sum/group which should be enough.. if you doubel and triple low cut it everywhere.. you always shift the phase a little bit more.. so you can get a muddy tail after the notes / steps .. also I think you don't need to cut synth basses... since they have a fundamental and there is nothing playing under it... if the lowend is too strong you can EQ it slighty with a low shelf .. but I don't think there is realy a need for total cuts.. ofcourse there are always exceptions... but I reccomend not to throw everywhere a lowcut on it.. just because "people do so" .. that came more from the recording of accoustic stuff.. (recordings bands and so on) .. yes in some cases you sometimes want a cut... but those cuts usually need to be carefully done.. not just thrown a lowcut at 20hz in it... also why ... think about it... what is playing at 20hz there? these are synthetic waveforms... there is nothing rumbling under the fundamental .. (except maybe clicks and such things by bad envelopes.. but then you should take a look into the envelopes..) .. it can make sense if you don't want a sub in the bass... or to get the base a bit more out of the sub content.. so cutting the fundamentals then... but that would be alot higher then those 20hz cuts... and also is usually not what we want in our music.. more common in band music again.. where you might not want the bass in a sub region.. (depends on the style/genre ofcourse) that's just one thing... maybe I should do some videos about production too since I do this for 20 years now.. already thought about that for a while.... but I have a bad speaking voice and not good at speaking...

I don't get why you EQ out the sub-30hz of the kick and also the higher frequencies of the subbass if we don't hear those frequencies or the sound doesn't really reach those frequencies anyways. Why don't you just leave it then? Edit: I just noticed that by EQing out the super low end, many high frequency harmonics disappear in the EQ Eight spectrum, which probably would interfere with other sounds.

Why don't you Freeze then Flatten the EQed and compressed kick? That would save processing, but is there a good reason for leaving the active plugins?
@CollectiveIntelligenceMusic
@CollectiveIntelligenceMusic 7 жыл бұрын
I don't need to save on processing as my laptop can handle a lot of cpu load. The only reason to leave the plug ins active is so you can obsess over tiny small details later on down the track ;)

Hey mate, I've learned quite a lot over the last year since making this tutorial myself so I can revisit this when I've got a good monitoring environment. To be honest, this video is to start people off on their journey to understand how to make a very basic bass line, so they can at least begin. As you learn and grow, you'll understand further how to achieve the kind of sound you'd like. This bassline was never supposed to sound like a progressive psy bassline anyway, it's at 144bpm. Even though it's only a few bpm of change it does make a significant difference to how your bass patch would be designed.
