Pt. 1 - 5x8 Trailer Build from Ironton Frame

This video goes over the build process and transformation from a Northern Tool Ironton 5x8 Trailer-in-a-box to an ATV hauler that will look good going down the road. This is also relevant to building a 5x8 utility trailer since all of the mods are what you would do when building an ATV trailer. I added 14 gauge steel tread plate floors and upgraded to 15" wheels which adds ground clearance and helps handle rougher terrain. This required 3/8" wheel spacers and larger fenders with inner steel plates. I also added D-rings and built dual fold up ramps using expanded metal and weld on gate hinges. Finally, I added rear leveling jacks to help with stability when loading and unloading the ATV. I topped it all off with two coats of Herculiner spray-in truck bedliner.

I bolted these camper leveling jacks to the frame: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B089B5MF1P/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 They can extend down to support the rear end of the trailer when loading.

You think your Jeep only has a 1,000 lb Towing capacity? That sounds extremely low as most cars have more towing capacity than that.. my 2004 Toyota Corolla has a 1500 lb towing capacity
