Is Every Malaysian Vote of Equal Strength?
There is an argument that our electoral system is not what it appears to be: that every Malaysian vote is not of equal strength.
Could this be true?
In particular, would you like answers to the following questions?
(1). Does the Federal Constitution guarantee equality?
(2). Was Equality removed from the Constitution?
(3). Do you have any idea what the Reid Commission said?
(4). Is every vote of equal strength?
(5). Should the Election Commission be Independent?
(6). Was the Election Commission’s independence compromised?
This article, ‘Is Every Malaysian Vote of Equal Strength?’, answers those questions.

Nearly everyone knows about the gerrymandering, but thank you for the history, which is mostly unknown. This year (GE15) the same gerrymandering is going to give problems to the ruling party as three of their own (ex) - group of people are competing for the same votes. The large constituencies might decide the winner this GE15.

The tendency in Malaysia is that we inherited lots of “ skewed ways “ in our governing the country and the constitution was nit s well thought out and written document . The reality is that it’s people or the politicians were greedy, selfish and corrupt from the begining. One of the reasons that the Alliance and BN managed to rule for sixty years was that the EC was deemed a “ branch of the executive “ . How pathetic !!!!

Hi Mr Ganesan, your sharing is beneficial to help us understand the law. it is OK that we use the content of your video and do a Mandarin version speaking in Mandarin for Chinese speaking community? Will mention the source is from you and your research team

@@GKganesan Hi Mr Ganesan Hmmmm ... more effective with audio and visual than subtitles I am an auntie. It will sound weird if use your original video and voiceover with a lady voice. Plus, when translate to Mandarin, if word by word layman can't understand. So, some English short terms will be long paragraphs in Mandarin ànd it is hard to match exact duration. My plan originally is to mention your video source, then to play a portion of your video, the pause. Then explain using layman Mandarin what u meant. Then repeat again for next portion ... Until finish It will be long but it will be more detail as there is both English and Mandarin. There will also be a disclaimer that we are not legal expert. U ARE. Anything unsure, refer back to your video links I have not give deep thoughts on how to execute it as we never done before. Was thinking of seeking your consent first before starting to think on implementation

Seats should be equal and increase according to population. PN afraid of the increasing seats last month shows their undemocratic views.

AI must live up with his words ie equal playing field. There are tons of rubbish to be cleared and wherever left should be refined with efficiency, not mere propaganda. Re-demarcate the constituencies is one of them to reflect the genuineness of an open Malaysian society, not words. The 2nd. pertinent issue is the engagement of foreign workers that has become a laughing stock. If a clean govt can't address this issue, then what is it for? Employers are the engines of growth in progressive economy but for decades, they were at the mercy of unscrupulous and greedy corrupted high level officials at the expense of the country. AI should settle the human resources issues before talking about boosting the economy.

When the Constitution state race and religion and decree that one race is more equal than the others, do you call it a manipulation?

So How I calculate my vote value? The highest Parliment Constituency population divide by my Constituency?
@GKganesan
@GKganesan Жыл бұрын
For Parliamentary (or national) EQ: Step-1: Take the Total number of votes in Malaysia divided by 222. That will give you the EQ. Step-2: Then take the number of voters in your constituency and divide by that EQ. If you get more than 1.0, you vote has been messed with. (But sometimes a difference of 15% is Oak) So also if you get lower than 1.0. (But remember locations is difficult areas can have a 15% reduction: e.g 0.85. That is OK. Same formula for state but you have to take the entire state voters number and divide by total state seats.
