When you sell your product The "harvest income" appears as normal on top right underneath your bank balance....then a secondary message comes up "environmental score" with a cash value amount added to your bank balance. The higher your environmental score is for your farm the better the cash bonus on that particular load.

I think the ploughing effects the yield like in base game and requires you to plough after every few harvests. But then with precision farming, when ploughing is not required, if you do it will affect the tillage.
@troyp4672 жыл бұрын
I'd encourage everyone to read all the articles FULLY that GIANTS released. Some of the things appear to need you to harvest to update. I'll add that some things GIANTS have said in posts contradict one another. It says plowing can be worse for weeds somewhere, but as far as I know plowing prevents weeds according to how the game works (based on tutorial page on website)
@marcuslooney18742 жыл бұрын
Yeah you have to weigh the benefits of plowing and having no weeds grow vs. not plowing and having to spray herbicide or use a weeder. The benefit of having a higher score not plowing may (likely) outweigh the herbicide costs.

This was definitely my thoughts. He kept saying that maybe Giants needs to update the mod, when it is working exactly how they explained it would. In my opinion, he is doing a disservice to the community by not reading everything that Giants have provided before making "A guide to..." video.

This is definitely an interesting and exciting addition to Farm Sim for me and I really appreciate you going through it like this, MrSealyP! I do still have questions but skimming through the comments has answered some in ways that I suspected would be the case. Seems like part of it especially with the environmental score is going to be a long term thing, the more times you harvest and turn over a field the more data is generated. Weeds and ploughing are likely the same, ploughing according to base game prevents weeds so I wonder if constant ploughing will affect your overall score and weed generation where as periodic for the yield bonus is ok because it's refreshing the soil and clears out the weeds. And the same with weeds, if you done "pretreat" the field in some way you'll probably get weeds but in patches like FS19 seasons rather than the basegame full field. I'm looking forward to tinkering with this tonight after work!

I wonder if the PH value is staying at around halfway as that’s 7.5 which is neutral rather than being too acidic? Also curious if you need to totally cycle a field to get the score updated. Also with the nitrogen, you mention wanting it to be in the green, that only applies to certain crop types, some don’t need a high amount of nitrogen which is why you should seed before spray/solid fertilising or you could over fertilise. (Haven’t tried in this version, but on fs19 if you sprayed before planting it automatically applied the full fert rate which would damage your environmental score now for certain crop types if it was too much fertiliser)

I think it's just necessary ploughing that causes the environmental score to change, where as necessary ploughing as no impact at all. Like if you're running wheat and plough after every harvest to prevent weeds like i do then it'll drop. But the reason ploughing is bad irl is due to soil erosion issues as regularly ripping it up can speed up the erosion process by loosing the soil up a lot. and with weeds it's that won't grow on the surface of soil but the seeds tend to get washed away and end growing else where same with mechanical weeders , where as using spot spray herbicide kills them with minimal herbice being used to seep into the ground and it kills the weeds.
@chealy30302 жыл бұрын

@SidDTheSimschannel2 жыл бұрын
plowing and cultivating and slurry before plowing changes the ph balence of the field, and than liming the field again might have made the nitrogen to high for the plowed field that has wheat. In real life wheat does better in no plowed fields, so they will often grow something that will leave behind something that can be mulched into the field, this should also change the ph level, also light cultivating can also be good for wheat too. I bet if you plow, grow sorgum because it only takes off the top part mulch the rest of the surgon after harvest shallow cultivate, and plant wheat, than roll your fields your get a higher Environmental score. However plowing does reduce weeds because you are pulling the roots up of weeds to when turning the dirt. Ideally you will want to get a soil sample after you plow, though because turning the dirt may change your soil type consistency.

Apart from that I thing it was released too early. On FS19 PF was released when? After 2/3 of the game's life circle maybe? At that point it added something new. Now on FS22 we are just at the start of the lige circle. That is the reason for my decision to start small and later, when I want to add something new, I will activate it on my "standard" safe files

On the environmental score window for the entire farm, it says “your environmental score increases your sell prices by 4%” I really wonder if this actually works as a rule on all maps under every condition. What you said toward the end about using more fuel (And adding PF to map you had to spray or weed whole feild rather than in patches) for those two fields is exactly right! You did more on the fields thus using more fuel so the Evironmental score is lower! Now next time when you seed you shouldn't have to lime it since it wheat and if you dont need to fertilize as much or so fourth your Evironmental score will go up since using less fuel and resources. Oh and also I don't believe you used the sensors on the tractor so you didn't get full control of spraying for weeds.
@TakenCypress3692 жыл бұрын
he did use sensors on tractor both types of sensors actually, i wonder about what you metioned tho about fuel having effect on score would that also apply with electric tractor? it shouldnt but would be good to know although it probally couldnt pull the fert spreader anyways
@AlucardBond0072 жыл бұрын
@@TakenCypress369 Yes he did use the sensors on the sprayer but you also need the sensors on the tractor mirrors or the front JD sensor when spraying fertilizer and it is mentioned in the precision help menu that it best to fertilize after the crops are in first growth stage to get full credit. Also most sprayers don't have a HP requirement so the Electric tractors should pull it just fine and that is a good a question if it counts that as using no fuel?

How hard would it be for giants to make a simple update where you can turn a field into a real production. You can add cows onto a grass field and add feeding/bedding points, the cows add a fertiliser state to the grass and you can then mow the grass to use for the cows or whatever else you like. Would be so good and I really don't think it would take a lot for them to do

@DairyAirFarms2 жыл бұрын
Don't focus on the environmental score so much. It's bonus yield supplements the games base yield bonus. So if you don't plow you will take a 15% base game penalty, if you don't mulch you'll take another penalty and so on. The maximum yield bonus you can get from an environmental score of 100% is 15%. By not plowing you wipe out that 15% bonus. You made up some of the difference because of the soil types and their bonuses. Make sense??
@Erik-ce3hq2 жыл бұрын
yeah the environmental score bonus yield seems a bit low considering all the work that goes into getting it. its like, for 15% you can plow, OR, you can weed, fertilize, lime, and correctly till, and then u get 15%

Still watching this so it might be answered later, just thoughts as I watch... Ploughing hasn't had a negative effect... But a number of Farming Simulator players like to plough after every harvest. If you seeded, took all the steps through to harvesting, and then ploughed again before the next crop when the field info isn't mentioning it, would THAT have a negative effect? I mean, they said ploughing is bad, but I think they mean excessive, like only do it when you have to type of thing. Also, if that's so, how would that effect crops that require ploughing after each harvest like corn? Is it just ploughing or would subsoiling be effected too, seeing as every type of field prep was separated in FS22? This is bringing up questions, and I think more testing is needed to see the ins and outs.

Field soil type Yes- you won't know until you test the field, however on FS19 when you viewed fields in the map when Precision farming is installed, it showed a % yield potential figure. if u plough, there won't be any weeds. if u cultivate, there will be 50% weeds. if u use the shallow cultivator, u will get 100% weeds. if u want to use the weeder, u have to use it at the first growing stage of the weed. otherwise, there is only one hoe, u have to use that. if the weed is big, the herbicide is the only option. but, before, if we applied herbicide, we used to get 15% less yield. not sure what happens now.

Ok... I think the problem might be that you are trying to maximise both the environmental and yield aspects, but sometimes, what's good for a yield isn't what's good for the environment, and vice versa. Your top map with sunflowers is at a 72 rating, but it's had very little work done in it because yoi bought it with a crop already in. You might find that score go down after harvesting and working the field, but your yield will go up. It might be a case of finding a balance between the 2 aspects. Look at organic farming: great for the environment, but not so good when it comes to yields. I wonder what would happen to the environmental score if you left a field fallow a year or two...

If it’s anything like fs19 it works on any kind of field. The soil map goes under the whole map, not just existing fields. On the Ph map, greener is generally better. Yellow is sub-optimal; red is bad. Gradually, year after year, you'll see more yellow as the soil becomes more acidic. Depending on money and time, you can decide how often to add lime. If you're using the variable application rate feature on the lime spreader, it will add exactly the right amount of lime to get the perfect Ph for the soil type. Because you seed after you lime, I don't think the optimal Ph level varies per crop type like the nitrogen target does. There might be some variance on whether some crops cause more acidity for the next year, but I doubt it. Field info will tell you more detail, but the color on the map is enough to decide at a glance whether it's time to lime.

In real life farming, there are only so many harvests left in the soil if practices aren’t changed, how many fields have very low hedges around them if hedges at all.. where before there stood trees around them.. and dropping leaves to fertilise the soil.. too much chemicals used..

Update made me loose no mans land for 2nd time... 670hrs lost... Anyone else have issues like this
@bookmanooftah92682 жыл бұрын
Not me, I'm on NML and update worked just fine. Perhaps there's another mod you're using too that's conflicting with the update + NML? I'm not sure. Maybe try loading your save with only the map mod and precision farming, and nothing else, and see if there's still an issue? (but DON'T save in that state, obviously :P)

I wonder if the less fields you have the higher the scores will be and decrease as you buy more

Weeds don't grow on ploughed fields. That's not precision farming, it's FS22.
