What he is saying is very true. It is innovative for Africa. In industrialized countries, these machines and ideas he is using are the bare minimum for any manufacturing operation. For example in Germany, you can find one or more similar companies in almost every city.

This brother is a treasure to the people of Kenya and the continent. Full of strategy, methodology, insight, and skill. This interview should be played on national television of Kenya UNEDITED. Such people give us so much hope that we can really do amazing things in Africa. I will watch this interview again and take notes. Job well done to Afrikan Traveller.

Impressed by this guy's way of thinking. I am in a similar technology field where you first create/refine your design via software like Autocad, LEdit, ICED, etc, then make then make the product with tools/machines that you can feed the design software into and run. What I like about him is his understanding of what amount of sophistication the market needs (which he has zeroed on the Jua Kali one). Buy just the right amount of technology to meet the market need. I would consider being a volunteer trainer on his team.

With all the on going housing projects, wish he can make an automated brick making machine that can make 50,000 -100000 bricks a day. And another machine to make plastic bricks for building and pavements at the same rate this would drastically reduce the plastic waste and also make cheap affordable housing using plastic bricks at the same rate of 50-100000 bricks a day. These plastci bricks can be used to make houses for people in slums at an affordable rate like 100,000 for one bedroom, 200000 for two and 300,000 for three bedroom paid over 20yrs.

Thanks Afrikaner Traveller for this content of Kenyan Innovation. If Kenya Manufacturing is too take off we need to bring the cost of production down mostly in utilities of electricity, water and transportation.Kenya needs invest in energy sector through the reliable geothermal as we have over 10,000Mw geothermal energy(Mostly in Kerio Valley) compared to less then 700Mw currently. We need to invest in carbon capture technology to create rain that will bring plentiful of water in Kenya we already investing in road networks, but we need to invest in modern SGR railway network in all economical active areas for fast safe and cheap reliable transportation.

I just read in on of the local papers that one of the major imports the country imported were tools. since the paper did not indicate what type of tools i googled tools and the tools vary from , the wrench (also called a spanner), saws, shovel, telephone, and the computer. Very basic things like knives, pens, and pencils are also tools. Another example of tools is Stainless Steel Screwdrivers, Pliers and Crescent Wrench. Socket Wrench, Wire Cutter & Stripper From my understanding is that if you have a CNC machine you can make any of these tools. We keep talking about importing tooth picks from china but the reason we do is because we luck the technology mainly the machines to make tooth picks efficiently, mass and the same size, but with a CNC machine one can make tooth picks in mass, efficiently and the same size and thats all it takes. So just think at the potential of a CNC machine. All over the country there are entreprenuers making all manner of things but in a very inefficient manner due to luck of capital to buy machines. If proteq can get with these individuals, buy a CNC machine cheaply and reconfigure it to operate optimally and then lease it to these individuals for a fee for them to mass produce their products we will not need to import tooth picks and other products. Replicate this with other entrepreneurs making any kind of product using proteq cnc machines , like if i want to make any type of product like tools or tooth picks all i need is to lease a proteq made CNC machine and am on my way to mass produce my product. Infact proteq can put a chip in the machine whereby if the fee is not paid they can switch it off from anywhere (HQ) Proteq can also create a partnership with leasing company in Kenya like Vaell www.vaell.com/ Vaell.com leases industrial equipment to industry in Kenya and east africa Vaell can help companies lease Proteq machines. I think Proteq and Vaell partenrship would make good business sense. Vaell has the reach to many industries that could use CNC machines and proteq has the product.
