Pt.37: Porsche 911 Turbo (964) Replica. Fitting new floor pans to the chassis. Pt.1.

Pans are nearly ready to be secured to the chassis. A minor change here, a cleaning of the chassis there....
My Porsche 911 (964) Turbo Replica, is a fibreglass kit car. It is built on top of a 1970's Volkswagen Type 1 Beetle chassis. The engine is a 1500cc air-cooled VW engine, with the original drivetrain and braking system.

Hi bud. Anything big bits of tar/sticky will come off well with a heat hun and scraper, then break the rest down with degreasant/petrol/thinners etc. Also I found an angle grinder with a knotted steel wire cup attachment spinning at 10,000 RPM stripped my chassis in no time. Far far superior to a wire brush or brush on a drill. In fact I use it all the time now on other parts too. 👍

@@datbuild You’ll never look back mate! Strips paint and rust off metal so well. Quite vicious so wear good protective gloves, I’ve just ripped through the back of my hand 😆

Yikes! Hope you're recovering ok from it. I tend to wear my welding gloves these days. Stops all the shards magnetising to my arm hairs. 😅

Oven cleaner does great on grease and old car oil were degreaser doesn't work just don't use it on aluminium it will stain it.

Just lucky enough to stumble across it for sale. Definitely rare for this particular kit, I've heard of 4, and seen 3.
