Tried using an oxy to get the created areas red hot then pull it out. Otherwise take it to a shop with a car-o-liner to pull it out.

Did consider an oxy. But don't have one. I think a shop for this one is going to be the default.

Hey bud. If the mounting holes are straight and square and it’s just that corner section that’s bent you could weld in some fresh metal and shape it with the grinder/sander. 🤔

Kind of what I was thinking. The holes are straight. But because that section has a crescent, it pushes out the steering components. So it needs to be 'flattened'. But unsure if thatd be a big no-no.

Frame heads arent that expensive, make sure you get the correct on for your beam, balljoint and link pin are different

Not so much the cost of the part, more so the installation. I dont think I trust myself with a crucial piece.

So, is the frame really bent? IF you've checked and it's square it's good use it if not find other bug frame. I too would hate to throw away the work and money but a different frame shouldn't be to expensive. And you can cut out and reuse the new floor pans.

Definitely square. I did a thorough measure of it in another episode, to ensure I wasn't wasting any more of my time. It's simply the impact damage on the corner, where the steering assembly bolts to.

@@datbuild I for one am not a "Bug Person" , But I wasn't a "Cavalier Person" till I bought one. Do what I had too talk to the "hardcore bug people " The ones building dune buggies and the like. There is a way to fix it. Heck have you thought about a manual rack and pinion like from flaming river? cut the bent part off and switch to something that don't need that piece. Living in the "rust belt" you learn to make it work or go without classic cars, because they're all rusted .

Would love to have a custom setup for the front end. Sadly, due to restrictions where I live, the requirement stipulates that the chassis and affiliated parts that make it a 'Bug'. Must be factory. Any modification puts the build in to a different category, which means I have to do even more to the car; in order for it to ever be road legal. Not an issue on any other state in this country. 😑 I will be chatting with a shop in the New Year. They specialise in old VW's.

@@datbuild That sucks man sorry to hear it. I guess a different frame is your only option then. I would still check with "bug people" around you, someone might know a way. Besides can't hurt to make friends in case something else goes wrong, a "buddy" with a spare engine is a godsend, better if they have a couple of parts cars.
