1:23:22 the first house of the final terraced block on the right is my Aunty's house!!! My son loves staying there and watching the trains and we always used to wave to my Aunty on the train on the way home from Newport. This is really cool to see.

I have driven this scenario myself. It's a great scenario, and very well simulates what the NMT has to experiences... Although it runs non stop from point to point (apart from the odd goods loop) it still gets restricted to the relief lines between Didcot and Old Oak Common, with a driver change at Reading.
@PTGRail7 жыл бұрын
I really enjoyed this scenario because I feel it realistically simulates the NMT run along here.
@TheArkamedBat2 жыл бұрын
This train is good because it allows Network Rail to test the railway without any delays to other trains by running at a top speed of 125 MPH. Only on the WCML there can be light delays because it doesn't tilt, but it can run still at a pretty good speed of 110 there.

By far the best train sim videos on KZbin. My local line is the Gainsborough line between Sudbury & Marks Tey, would be awesome if you covered it, although the line journey time is about 20 minutes long 😂

Haha, thanks! I do try ;) Unfortunately the Sudbury branch hasn't been simulated so far.

Great video! To answer your question on the use of the DRA, yes it's common practice to use the DRA whenever stopped at a red light. See Section 10 of the Rule Book for more info on the correct use of DRA - Search RSSB for GERM8000

at 1:12:15 use to be my flat, back in around summer 2010, tornado stopped outside, had a malfunction, they brought up a class 47 from the rear, run it around and towed tornado and her coaches. also most nights, ews would park up outside, leave canadian locos, ticking over for hours, class 66, they had a bloody awful sounding at idle and at 3am in the morning, you just wanted to bang your head, against the wall, they were so loud. the upgraded gwr hst power cars, use to glide through. the whole section has now been electrified, with overhead pantograph cables, also with bridges raised, the freight liner, runs the freight yard. Ar 1:20:32 is caes newydd, new castle, or in english newport, this castle was complete and working as brains brewery in 1885, it suffered a mysterious fire, resulting in it burning just enough, to let the new railway line to be laid.... how handy was that!

between the 2 signals where you was slowing down and you saw s red signal on the right and your signal next to it was green so you could speed up to 100 well that first signal that was yellow did actually change to green as you passed so you didn't need to slow down, the signal that changed from yellow to green that I'm referring to was at the video time around the 27.54 mark on the video timer where you said that you had applied full service brake
@PTGRail7 жыл бұрын
I didn't notice the signal change, but even if I had I'm not sure it would have been safe to accelerate to 100, knowing that I was following another train.

Also fanning of the brake is not good practice. It's impossible when driving most trains to maintain exact speeds and in real life is not achievable or aimed at precisely!

Good video as always PTG but I have always wondered how do you remember the details (e.g. signal distance gradients etc.) do you have a notepad by you or is it pure memory?
@PTGRail7 жыл бұрын
It's a mixture of both. I do indeed have a notepad, but I don't always refer to it. I've already driven a route at least twice before I record it, sometimes more. The notes are more to prompt me for the commentary than anything else.

That's the DSD (Driver's Safety Device). It triggers an alarm if the driver hasn't moved the controls for 60s. The driver has 3s to cancel the alarm or there's a brake intervention.
