I have the opposite issue! And I don’t know what to do about it. I know how the roles work on the PTO my sister was a PTO president for 3 years at the same school that I’m at now. And we are all new, the treasurer, VP, secretary and myself and we were kind of pushed into our position (I don’t even want to be president I’d really rather just volunteer) and the rest of the board thinks that everything has to go through me only, and EVERYTHING falls on me. I’m 110% exhausted already. The previous pto board members just left at the beginning of the year so it’s like we are starting from scratch. And I’m a kinder parent so I literally have 0 clue what the pto used to put on for the school. I got bawled out because I didn’t know last week was red ribbon week and we didn’t do anything because again I had no clue. I’m a new clueless president, and I don’t want to be, how do i nicely step down? I’m very overwhelmed and it’s making it hard on my life at home.

I'm sorry you're dealing with this situation. Sounds like people are not tempering expectations with new leaders like they should. If you're certain things are unfixable and you can't continue, I'd meet with the other officers and explain that you need to step down.
