Hello , I have so many questions. I want to start a PTO at my child's school, and don't know where to start! I need your help!

Hi Felicia! The first thing I'd do is contact your school's Principal and get a meeting scheduled to discuss starting a PTO. After that, spread the word and form a group of interested volunteers and get leaders established and form some goals and start drafting bylaws. Great! See my reply to Felicia on how to get started. The other advice I have for you is to start a PTA. To do that, you can contact your state PTA office and let them know you're interested in starting a new group. They'll be able to guide you.

I stepped up to be PTA President bc we were at risk of losing the PTA. Once I was elected I was handed a folder with about 30 pages and ghosted. I have spent most of the summer creating items, the calendar, speaking to parents to get them involved, and the state education requirements. I am already exhausted. What should I do? The principal is already asking me to sit for the 2 years we are allowed. I'm drinking iced coffee by the buckets full. 😭

Good for you for stepping up and already being such a rockstar that the Principal is practically begging for you to stay on! It's so tempting to try to get everything taken care of that's been neglected- I'm a similar problem solver and will jump in with both feet before checking to see if the landing spot is safe! LOL. I’m pto president and I’m getting crushed I look like the fool meetings are sloppy and focus isn’t where I think it should be how do I get to where it’s productive
