Makes me feel good that I just put in a set of HKS M40XL in my 2020 Veloster Turbo. Not tuned or anything, so I didn't go with the 45's.

Hello, great video, I have an issue I took the oem ngk out of my kia 2.5t and the HKS has a 2mm shorter reach than the oem will that be an issue?

Hey this is exactly the video that I wanted to see! Someone actually opening up all that nice protective layer and showing me the goods! You're sacrifice is greatly appreciated. Now....TO TUNE!

I would recommend that spark plug.

this has been a very educational video and has opened my eyes about plugs. shame that HKS only make plugs for sports car and not your typical family sedan car. would love to put these on my car. but ironically, NGK made HKS plugs as well. So your point at the end was very on point.

What family sedan do you have? I bet that we can find a plug that works for you.

Any idea what HKS spark plugs would fit my 2008 Infiniti QX56?
@TorkMotorsports3 ай бұрын
I am sure that there is something that will work for your Infinity that HKS makes. I would have to see the stock Infinity plug to figure out which one would work.

Hi John. Thanks for the video. For those of us not as knowledgeable as you - could you briefly explain how that difference in resistance affects the plug and engine performance?
@TorkMotorsports3 ай бұрын
Less resistance means that more of the spark energy can make it to the tip of the spark plug. The more spark you get to your plug, the bigger the boom you get in the combustion chamber. Is this what you were looking for or did you want more technical?

I have a honda civic fd2.0 and been really wondering if i can put in a hks spark plug into it , running stock with k20z2 engine . No one has clear answer if its better to use spark plug like hks for more performance. Without tuning

I would have to see the Honda stock plug to figure out an HKS replacement.

I do appreciate the information and being able to see the difference, but shoot a little bit more ceramic isn’t worth 2.5x the price on a plug that should be changed every 40k miles. Not being rude but sheesh, 40$ a plug is wild. On a side note, I’d like to know your opinion on NGK iridium vs Ruthenium. Seems ngk is the only producer of ruthenium plugs and they have all their claims, hard to know what’s hogwash and what’s real. Are they sufficient compared to OEM Hyundai iridium’s? Can get them through my parts department with discount for like 8$ so considering swapping all my vehicles to ruthenium. Thank you
@TorkMotorsports3 ай бұрын
Vs what? A plug failure could cost you an $8000 engine? Best case its only damages the exhaust valve and turbo which would cost you $4000? I am not being rude either, but at what point do you start measuring the cost of the potential failure vs that of the spark plug. I run NGK race plugs in all my 1.6T applications/personal cars. At $110 per plug, I justify it because it will never cause an engine failure.
@Pseudopregnancy3 ай бұрын
@@TorkMotorsports I don’t foresee plug failure from NGK as they’re one of the top brands in the market. Any plug can fail. But it’s not like we are talking about autolites or champions. Have you tried out ruthenium’s on any vehicle?
@AlphaFlight6 ай бұрын
Just run autolites. Do the same and perform just as good all iridium. Hks is just name brand.
@TorkMotorsports5 ай бұрын
Nope, nope and nope. Considering I have been doing this for 35 + years now. You learn a few things and Autolite and KDM cars simply do not work well together.
@Pseudopregnancy3 ай бұрын
Not gonna lie, autolites are some of the worst plug brands out there.
